Keeping a eye on other team WR'S battles..

I'd take a look if Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald if they get cut but only if we sign them for vet minimum.

I know you're joking, but I was talking with a few Lions fans yesterday and there's a growing feeling among some of them that Megatron could possibly be cut at the end of this season or the next.

He's due to make $24 million next year, $22 million the year after that, and then like $18-20 million every year up until he's 38.

They were talking about how if he is cut, they'd love to see him here with Cam and a healthy KB.

Megatron being a FA within the next year is a real possibility.

Lol I felt the same way... but let's be real, even if he does hit FA what are the chance we're gonna outbid everyone else for the Megatron sweepstakes.  You know he's going to be looking to get paid.  Dude got like a $120 million contract a few years ago as a fuging WR.

True. True. Plus, we already know by now Getts ain't the one to throw huge money at FA's. Besides, dude's starting to wear down and would much rather have that money go towards a LT if we were to go that route in FA. Was a fun fantasy while it lasted lol

    • Qbs aren't defined by physical abilities. Brady, Brees, Manning, Montana, Warner,.....doesn't seem to correlate.

    • If we are going to spend the money anyway, maybe the signing is not as bad as it seems.  Mays outperformed Corbett (before his injury and if you go back to last year, Corbett has been below average) and then Christensen took the job and Mays quickly took it from him and never looked back.  He could use improvement reaching to the next level (LBs) but picking up stunts and blitzes---he was surprisingly good.  Run blocking needs some work, but he is 25.  Corbett, in my view, should be G/C depth and if Mays steps back, he is there.  Mays should start because this team is building for the future and 30 year old players are not building blocks.  We shall see.  That is how I think about it, but there are many factors we do not know. Having said that, I like what Zavala is doing, and I do not want to bring in someone who would take opportunities away from him.  Zavala was really good at RG down the stretch, and in limited duty, was awesome. In fact, we have a guard from the PS who played briefly and did well, but he only played a few plays.  He is 25 and I recall that fans of his former team were upset when we signed him.   Maybe as the backup center only (Corbett).  You need 2 centers to run practices efficiently.  I cannot say enough about the OL coaches on this staff.  What they have done is overshadowed by the Lewis / Hunt signing.  Mays, Ekwonu, Zavala--impressive growth.
