Why not two tight end sets?

They have Olsen, Dicksen, Lucas and Williams. Some threads on here suggest that they should just pound the ball and play stout defense or trade to upgrade the WR position. It appears to me that the TE position MIGHT become a strength (along with the running game), now that they have lost K.B. Olsen is one of the best in the game, Dicksen picked his game up the end of last year and Lucas may be a find at this position.  Brandon Williams is still yet to see major playing time and may or may not pan out.

Can Shula be counted on to use these guys correctly?  That is the big question. Think they can make it work to supplement the WR corp that we now have......agree or disagree?

I think dickson can be alot better than last year. When tolnert was hurt I always saw Ed in the backfield moving around and being in a blocking role. He wasnt able to be in his natural spot next to a tackle and going out for a pass. Towards the end of the season when tolbert was back, see saw Ed catching ALOT more passes

rodeo must not have paid close attention to last season and this preseason. Ed doesnt suck. He needs targets, and to not shift around in the backfield.

Did anyone not follow twitter today? Ginn boykin Olsen and Dicksen were railing off plays today. Lots of 2 te looks. I dunno what Jeremy was seeing that everyone else wasn't

On passing downs, not problem.

Running out of the two tight end set ... not so much. I would prefer a fullback than a TE in motion acting as a FB. The Panthers TE's aren't exactly the best blockers aside from Brockel.

When Tolbert came back and Dixon did not have to block and started to catch on it was in 2 TE sets.

Bingo <- times one hundred. This is exactly what happened to our offense last year. Too many weapons had to help Bell or other individuals.

Definitely think we'll see more of Dickson this year, not sure if that means we'll keep both Williams and Lucas though. Also not sure if we'll still keep 6 receivers, may just go with 5 and focus on the ground game. Could mean like 6 of Stewart, Fozzy, CAP, Todman, Wegher, Tolbert, Ward, and Brockel.

    • Soooo many bad turnovers again. Luckily Martin played well.
    • Yes. Cade 100% tripped and pitched it to Mafah.  That’s not in dispute.  We agree on that.  Mafah got the ball, fell to the ground and then attempted to complete the rest of the play….which was the lateral to the WR on the end around.  You are calling the lateral from Mafah to the end around WR the ball popping up.   It was whistled dead.   Then they ran another play.  the review then awarded the ball to SC after we ran another play for what happened after a play was whistled dead.   How does that part work lol?  How do you recover a ball if a play was whistled dead for a downed player prior to a recovery?  I think the refs screwed Clemson twice.   That’s not why they lost.  Please don’t think that is my argument.   They lost because Cade chocked and panicked at the end.  They lost because Sellers should have been put on the ground for a loss countless times and they didn’t.  They lost because our over loyal Dabo wouldn’t bench his favorite hurt RB.    Clemson lost for lots of reasons. SC deserved to win.  Those calls were bad though IMO.  They exist in every game.
    • I can’t recall an NBA team with this many injuries.  It’s getting absurd at this point
