If a player the caliber of KB with the importance of KB on the Patriots had gone down, would anyone have a doubt that Bellacheat would find a way to get them deep into the playoffs?  I lack faith in our coaching staff to make necessary adjustments.

This. I have zero faith in Shula and our ability to adjust to adversity on that side of that ball. We need all-star talent everywhere to mask the deficiencies of our play calling. We lose our #1 WR, that is huge. Our offense will be stale and Shula will get yet another pass this season.

Now we have to run some prehistoric offense from the 60s barely speaking by. That means we have no room for error and if we get down by double digits we are whole heartedly screwed.

 

The sad thing is Cam has the capability of handling a pass first offense if it wasn't for our receivers. Still hoping for a trade

This offense has always been a run first offense. While the loss of KB certainly hurts, the depth at RB, the stability of the OL and the depth of possession receivers combined with 88s constant presence and Cam's super powers allows this team to poke and plod it's way to wins. In fact, the way this team is built, dominating defense and ball control offense is exactly the make up of a Championship winning team.

Football has changed in a way. The mantra used to be defense wins championships. Well offenses have adjusted to the pass first mentality. Now is exactly the right time for the Panthers to flip the script to a tried and true method that current defenses are largely ill equipped to handle. And as always Cam is the wildcard that can be purely magical.

For those with no faith in the coaching staff, take heart that this team can potentially out execute the opponent. Think San Antonio Spurs. Not sexy...but a winning formula in the playoffs. Tried and true.

I keep reminding myself that in 2013 we went 12-4 with the 29th ranked passing offense.

Football really hasn't changed, if you can run the ball and stop the run you'll win more games than you lose.

Exactly! I don't think the Panthers were that low in pass rankings though, but you know who probably was - the Super Bowl winners - Seattle Seahawks. They led the league in rushing and had one of the highest positive turnover margins in recent history. Pretty sure they had the fewest pass attempts as well.

So, the oline and dline must remain healthy this season to win with this formula. KK and Star have become so much more important now.

Oher, Norwell, Kalil, Turner, Remmers, and even rookie Daryl Williams are all suited to dominate in a run game provided an adequate scheme and play calling.

I was feeling bummed out but still slightly optimistic about everything until I remembered we have Shula as our OC and he will attempt to force some square peg into round hole offensive BS when he needs to adjust, something he has yet to do as our OC. 

I'm so sick of Shula it's annoying.

A strong running attack will open up our passing attack as well. We have enough talent, just have to execute smart playcalling.

Well its not going to be your typical run game, Cams going to have to run like 2011 and it will defiantly  open the offense.

Where going to have to make up 9TDs  and lost of 1st down conversion. Tolbert will defiantly  have to step up like in 2013.

In my opinion this makes Wegher even more valuable. He's the only runner we have similar to Stewart and with teams stacking against the run we're going to needs guys that can shed contact and still be able to break long runs. I say cut Brockel (if he is indeed an inferior blocking FB to Ward), cut Todman (speedy guy like that is diminished in our situation anyway, and I don't think he's as good as Wegher) and even cut Tolbert if we need to. Go with an orthodox FB, Stewart carrying the heavy load, Cap as the Deangelo-esque change of pace back (over used phrase anyway), and Wegher as the guy to step into Stewart's role when needed. Our offense isn't going to be able to handle 2nds and 10, 3rds and 7 or 8. We needed guys that can be depended on for at least 3 to 4 yards a carry like Stewart and Wegher, not guys that will sometimes get negative or no yards and sometimes 5 to 7 like Todman.

I mentioned this in another thread... with this injury and with Shula as the OC, I fear for Cam's health this year more than I ever have.  Shula is going to run Cam into the ground is my guess.
