And yet again, I revisit the offseason...   Remember a guy named Andre Johnson?

True, but you know I've been on a tangent about WR for a long time, especially the last two seasons.  It just seems like we can never get ahead at the position and I think that is due in large part to us not valuing it historically.  I don't think it's coincidence that the year we made the Superbowl we had a running game and our deepest, most talented WR corps ever. 

And I just used Andre as the example in that post because he was basically viewed as a stop gap during the offseason, and even in my opinion, was one of last options I would've liked...   Not because he wasn't worth bringing in, but because he was older and guys like Moore had upside.  So I was just saying that to illustrate the point of, "he was one of the least desirable options here due to his age, but it doesn't sound so bad now, does it?"  I will say though that I said I would like to bring him in because he's a guy I could see playing effectively through his late 30s to age 40...   It was also an easy parallel because he is a big target and I still believe he is just as athletic.

I just wish we would've signed a legit #2 or 3 in free agency and then this loss wouldn't feel as huge as it does now (although it still would be impactful), and I've been asking for this long before KB was injured.

So in 2013 when we went 12-4 we didn't have one single 1000 yard receiver...hell not even a 900 yard receiver and no WR had more than 5 td catches...that's replaceable..

Benjamin was a loss no doubt but at this time last year he was a rookie who many pundits felt wasnt ready to start in the league.  Obviously Proehl got him ready and he was really solid.  He can do the same thing with Funchess.  Plus I think Ginn is going to be a bigger addition than many of you think plus Brown is a year old and better, Bersin is looking bigger and better and Boykin has potential to be a good receiver.

The biggest thing going for us is that Cam is healthy, the O line looks improved and the running game looks to be better as well.  Lets be real here, a 1000 yard season means you averaged 66 yards a game.  I think the guys we have brought in should make up the loss.  Finally we may bring in someone else as well.

All of this doom and gloom is over the top.  Sure I hate the loss but to assume everything is over is ridiculous.

To base this season off of last season is as crazy as saying numbers won't happen because blah blah blah.  Our top dog just went on the shelf.  Last year going into the season he was top dog just because everyone else was released or signed away with another team.

Will Funchess come in and knock out 1000 yds in 2015.  Doubt it.   Will he contribute   I think so and handsomely.  Maybe 5-600 yds.

Brown and Ginn just gained a lot more snaps and IMO will be able to pick up some of that slack. 

I also believe Bersin with his size will gain some more snaps.  He has Cam's trust and that goes a long way.

We have the talent on this team to pick the slack up.  I believe it is going to be up to Shula to find the right mix and get those players on field to make difference.

I am all for kicking the tires on Wayne and bring him in if he can contribute.  Signing him doesn't replace KB.  We can only hope that the loss of KB is picked up by the entire receiving corps not just one player.

I think we have the talent for it.  I know we have the talent for it.
