Y'all need to hear this. The KB injury sucks, but...

Yea, we're in trouble.  This injury might have killed our potential at having a better than average season.  Shula handicaps the impact Cam can have on our offense, and with only one legitimate pass catcher...who's a TE....our offense is going to be bottom third in the league.  Our only hope is if Funchess can be a LOT better than I expected before the draft, during the draft, and to this day AND Brown can make huge strides from last year or Boykin becomes a legit #2.  Cotchery is a non-factor, Bersin is a joke, Dickson is an afterthought, Ginn is a one trick pony who's only good for that trick half the time (valuable with the right pieces around him, but not enough to lift an offense).

I hate being this negative, but KB was the second most critical piece to our offense behind Cam.  People were saying earlier that he might be behind Kalil, but I think Kalil might be more easily replaced than KB.  Without KB our WR corps is bottom 5 in the league.  Similar to (maybe even inferior to) the Mooseless Smitty days when Smitty was out.

People acting like we can just cram it down the other team's throat are kidding themselves.

Right out of the gate, we're going to see 8 men in the box and bracket coverage on Olsen.  Our WRs will have to prove that they can be a threat because they're not going to get any respect out of the gate.  If they can't demand some respect, we are going to really struggle.

I think if this team was entering the season think we were gonna air it out as our selling point, we were in trouble. KBs loss sucks, there is no disputing that. But KB is much more replaceable than Cam or numerous defensive players on this team. If we can keep Stewart healthy and run the ball, we can beat anyone in the league.

There's a difference between thinking we're going to "air it out" and "we need one legitimate WR in order to allow our run game to function".  Every single one of our current WRs is single-coveragable.  That leaves a lot of guys to cover Olsen and defend the run.

Perspective. Last year we lost Hardy (without being prepared) CJ got hurt, Frank Alexander was suspended, Bene was a rookie, Harper was a starter, Ginn was gone, Funchess wasn't on the roster, Stewart was coming off injury, Oline was one of the worst in the league, Olsen's son was fighting for his life and Cam fugging Newton was never 100% all year.

KB going down sucks hard, but the south is still ours and the future is still brighter than last season.

thank you.....I needed that. Lol!

honestly I think if you're on a team where you have to use Ted Ginn as a selling point for your WR core then you're in trouble.

Ginn at his best should be a deep threat #3. Thats it.

all talk saying we're doomed shod just stop posting for about 335 days. We're fans and we love our team. Stop bringing us all down. Things ain't that bad. Losing kb is awful, but we're ok. Have faith or give up. Sick of reading all this "we're doomed" sh*t. Take the year off if you're so convinced.

This is the deepest WR group the Panthers have ever had.  Funchess has looked good.  Not Benjamin good, but still looks like he can contribute immediately.  Ted Ginn is back and provides a sorely needed deep threat.  Cotchery is a sure-handed veteran.  Bersin looked strong as a situational possession receiver.  Corey Brown is an up and comer.  Boykin looks like a lock to make the roster now.  Oh, and don't forget, they still have Greg freaking Olsen.  The sky is not falling.  Losing the best receiver on the team sucks, but this doesn't mean the Panthers can't or won't make the playoffs.  Take your time to be bummed, but get right back on then horse, because the Panthers are still a damn good team with or without Benjamin.  #keeppounding

This team will need to rally and circle the wagons because missing KB will have a ripple effect and will make things harder on Olsen and the run game. However, I think we have the talent to pull together and do this.  I really feel bad for KB though. He has looked sensational.  It's going to be a tough road for him both physically and mentally over the next 9-10 months.  That said, it's time for Cam and the offensive line and J Stew to answer the call and set the tone.  The run game and our defense will have to dictate things this season.  Going to be an uphill battle but ine thing we know is this team has proven it will not quit when the chips are stacked against them.

Blind optimism doesn't make you any more of a fan than any body else.

Recognizing a fault is not "doom and gloom".  simply saying things are not okay is not "doom an gloom"

its a truth. It could get better or it could get worse. But no one here is winning any fan awards for being a blind homer.

it's not blind optimism. It's being a fan of a team you support. If you don't wanna cheer for the Panthers and hope and care, be a saints fan. Football is about supporting your team and seeing what happens. If you wanna do something else, be a nfl.com analyst. They could actually use your help.

Recognizing and acknowledging your teams faults doesn't mean you care any less.

if you want to bury your head in the sand that's totally fine but me or anyone else that chooses to say loosing our #1WR on an already thin WR group is a problem doesnt mean we're less than fan..thats not "doom and gloom"

Doom and gloom would be "well our season is over, we're gonna suck for sure" I never said that.

like I said blind optimism doesnt make anyone more of a fan than anyone else.

fair enough and honestly you're right. I've just seen too many posts this afternoon about how our season is done and blah blah blah.... That I was going on the defense. We do have issues for sure. But, I have to be optimistic, been optimistic since '95. But you're right, we have a lot of work to do. Fingers (realistically) crossed.
