Y'all need to hear this. The KB injury sucks, but...

This is the deepest WR group the Panthers have ever had.  Funchess has looked good.  Not Benjamin good, but still looks like he can contribute immediately.  Ted Ginn is back and provides a sorely needed deep threat.  Cotchery is a sure-handed veteran.  Bersin looked strong as a situational possession receiver.  Corey Brown is an up and comer.  Boykin looks like a lock to make the roster now.  Oh, and don't forget, they still have Greg freaking Olsen.  The sky is not falling.  Losing the best receiver on the team sucks, but this doesn't mean the Panthers can't or won't make the playoffs.  Take your time to be bummed, but get right back on then horse, because the Panthers are still a damn good team with or without Benjamin.  #keeppounding

Listen to this scary thought.

A MIKE SHULA led offense ran by an inconsistent passer in Cam Newton who has Michael Oher on his blindside while throwing it to a rookie who was considered to be a reach, a guy who is a punt returner, old ass Cotchery, and 4 other guys who might as well be named Joe Schmoe.

Kill me now.

You've posted this three times now.  I promise that you're being seen.

Stop.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and positive spin, but the bottom line is that our WR corps is the hottest of trash unless Funchess can have a KB-esque rookie season.

this. we're banking on funchess having an improbably huge season to just match our receiving corps last year. our receivers were pretty awful last year.

We also got Ginn back, Brown and Bersin have experience under their belts, and the OL looks to have improved quite a bit. Let's not jump off any bridges yet.

We have depth and competition for the #3 or #4 WR spots.

assuming Funchess is a rookie he isn't a #1 or#2 yet.  What happened last year is abnormal.

Cotchery, Ginn, Brown are 3rd or 4th options on well built rosters.

it is what it is.

ginn helps but he was brought back to fill one role. it would take massive improvement from brown/bersin to fill the void left by KB's injury. our offense is going to be very conservative this year imo, and it will be very frustrating to watch.

After week one of the pre-season last year,, we didn't know KB would get 1000 yrds..   Funchess might not be KB ( might be close though )   but  Cam is healthier to start this season,,  Brown should be better,  Olsen should be very good as always,  Ginn will be better than any one we had last year at stretching the field and going over the top,,  My glass is still half full..

Yeah, Olsen is Olsen, but he's gonna see double coverage on every passing down.

We knew our WR corps hinged on KB last year.  The rest of the unit was trash and we knew it.  Turned out to be true too, thankfully KB really was a beast.  Same thing is true for this year.  If Funch isn't a beast right out of the gate, then we simply don't have an NFL caliber WR corps.
