Opinions: is Frank Alexander a possible cut?

Cox put himself in the running, so we might see him in even earlier next game. I'm all for it. That puts Horton and Ealy on notice in my opinion. Ealy is safe from getting cut, but his depth chart status could slide. Rivera said he needs someone to step it up. There is opportunity on this team to move up the depth chart at DE.

IMHO is the current talent level at DE.  How many will we keep? 4 maybe 5?

I've been thinking 5 all along*, especially since we don't have a clear front-runner to play opposite CJ.  If we're doing "DE by committee" again as Ron has suggested, that suggests a group of 3 guys rotating to use their strengths and weaknesses.  Assessing DE is something I know little about, but from what I've been learning here it seems like there's not yet one guy who is strong in all areas, thus the committee approach might be needed based on the situation.

Plus CJ is not a very young guy... good backup depth becomes increasingly important.

My top 4 are CJ, Mario, Frank, Kony.  (No way will we give up on a #2 Draft pick this soon).  I haven't seen/heard that much about Wes Horton to know how close a battle it might be between him & Cox.  I am guessing Cox could be a strong candidate for PS.  It just depends if he's likely to be of interest to other teams.

Cox was not a tryout.  He was one of our priority UDFAs so I'm assuming he at least had some folks paying attention to him in the draft.  If he shows his stuff on too much more game film we could risk losing him on the PS.

*But I was assuming we'd cut Joe Webb and probably only keep 6 WRs, so I'm really not sure how we find space for 5.  We need a shoe horn for this roster it's getting so tight!

I don't have any expectations of Frank.

The last two years tells me not to expect anything from Frank.

I haven't given up on Frank, just know he need constant supervision and motivation. Which keeps me from raising my expectations.

Now he may het it turned around. If so, great. If not, so be it.
