Let's put the Cotchery has little value takes to rest

I would get rid of both Cotchery and Bersin. Cotchery statically was the worst number 2 WR in the entire league last season. And Bersin really didn't prove anything worth keeping last year. Let Boykins and Byrd take their spot.

I'm not sure we are going to have a #2 receiver that does well statistically anytime soon.  With Olsen here our #2 receiver is in reality our #3 receiving option.  Also our offensive philosophy doesn't really seem conducive to having 3 receivers with high yardage totals.

Problem with no huddle is yyou wear your defense out and bubble screens are quick routes.  Another problem with that is the same problem as with using Cotchery with a bubble screen he is not fast.  You need speed for quick outs or they get picked off quite easily.

This is why I rather keep Byrd and Bersin. Byrd is quick enough for what you speak and Bersin is that sure handed redzone guy.

Problem with not using it is that the Panthers lose games

Typical Rivera, if the only thing he brings is teaching what the hell are the coaches for.  We have a younger player in Bersin who could step in and do his role.  Allowing a younger player to make the team and learn but nope.  Let's keep slow ass Cotchery and Harper in there because they bring stability...

this x100! That's like me keeping an employee even though he may know the systems in place I have younger guys who can out perform him.

According to the huddle we have the GOAT WR coach who is going to jump straight to a HC soon, why can't he coach the WR during game day?

Don't be stupid, I've proven you wrong and now your just repeating yourself.

No, you haven't proven poo. The Panthers had their only success in the no huddle, and lost games when they didn't use it. Your bullshit about the defense's feelings on the matter don't mean anything.

But serioisly, let's say they do like Cotch for what he brings on the field.

2014

48 Rec 580 Yards 1 TD

2013

46 Rec 602 Yards 10 TD

2012

17 Rec 205 Yards 0 TD

We used him in the wrong role and expected to much as a WR2 last year. This year we have young and up and coming talent that has shown promise, but yet let's keep a guy who after this year's contract is up will not be signed by another team, and get another 200-300 yards and his vet leadership in our many 4 WR sets on the field..../sarcasm

in 2013 both Lafell and Ginn had better seasons, so yeah.....

And the top two receivers had worse then the top two this year.  Which furthers what i'm trying to explain in that we aren't going to have three 1,000 yard receivers on the team.  I'm not sure any team in the league does.

2013:

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/stats/_/name/car/year/2013

Olsen - 816

Smith - 745

LaFell - 627

2014

http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/stats/_/name/car

Olsen - 1008

KB - 1008

Cotchery - 580

Personally I believe our offensive passing problems go a little deeper then the statistical output of our WR2.  This Cotchery hate sounds a lot like the LaFell talk that was very prominent on this board before he left.  Somehow NE won a few games with him as a WR2.

When your passing offense goes from Top 15 in 2012 to 29th in 2013 with the same QB, TE, Wrs, and Oline it probably is linked to scheme and coaching....

But it's not Shula it's player execution /huddlelogic

No one is asking for 3 1000 receivers, I just don't want a huge drop off between our number 1 and number 2 WR. Lets not forget to mention he had 1 TD the entire season which is pathetic. He didn't even have one game with over 100 yards receiving.

Cotchery did more harm than good last year, he couldn't get separation and he dropped many key passes. And who cares about Lafell? he couldn't even reach 1000 yards with Brady, that's saying a lot.
