Official Panthers - Bills GameDay Thread

Webb actually looked pretty damn good last preseason....now he looks like deer in the headlights sort of deal...wonder why he's regressed.

He's so indecisive and instead of just running for 1st downs like last year he's just standing there not doing poo then fuging the play up.

I saw him a lot in college too, and I'm not purposely being negative, but that was exactly why I didn't want him.  I am not impressed by massive guys playing reciever unless their skills translate to the position naturally.  So to me, he was always an impressive specimen for his size and fluidity, but not due to being a natural reciever.  That was why I didn't want him over other guys that were available when we took him.

Now he's made a couple nice catches after that first drop, and then turned around and dropped a TD pass that he had great position on.  It's inconsistency and he just never struck me as a natural reciever...

ideally, if he can be your #3 WR, maybe #4 you are going to be set up well.  You have Benjamin.  You get yourself a #2 that is solid and you can play Olsen or a #3, either way, you are putting Funchess against a nickel or dime back, maybe even a LB.  In that case Funchess will win the matchup 9 times of 10.

Him being a rookie and unpolished I worry about him over the middle.  Cam throws high, one bad throw and Funchess not knocking it down would be an INT all day.

Either way, if he can be your #3 WR - which he should be able to do - he is going to play in this league a long time.  He will be the one you find at a clutch moment, you watch, you wait.

He has looked like he got the Krispy Kreme deal early and took full advantage of it.  He lost outside contain virtually every play he was put in the spot and wasn't getting any pressure either.  All of the DEs struggled against their ones, but he stood out in a bad way.

Well that's disappointing.

I'm not going to be too hard on him in the first preseason game. I'm just hoping to see some flashes from him at least.
