Think I have a Hernia

What makes you think it's a hernia?  The reason I ask is because I thought I had one a few months back.  Sports hernia is what I thought it might have been.  I cut out all my exercising except walking and the pain went away after about 6-8 weeks.  I should have gone to the doctor but never did.

There is light pain and discomfort and there is a definite protrusion from my lower groin area - it seems to pop in and out - wasnt there yesterday during the day but when I got out of the shower it was noticeable.

I've had one and had to have surgery.  I don't remember pain or discomfort, but I had a protrusion in my groin area and I could push it in and out.  I'm not exactly sure if there's another option for this type of hernia other than surgery especially when it's in the groin region, but I'm no doctor.  The bad news is that you are bed ridden for at least a week and things like walking to use the restroom or just lifting yourself out of bed sucks during that time.  The good news is that you get some awesome drugs and you have a scar that you get to show off to the ladies.

I had a single surgery on two hernias. The only incision was a small one just under my naval. Patched me up, good as new. That was 10 years ago I believe.

There was a buldge on both sides, just an inch or so away from my peen. It wasn't painful, just ached from time to time and uncomfortable.

Go to a general practitioner. They will probably refer you to a urologist.

I'm sitting here with an umbilical hernia as I type this... I've known about it since last December... It is to the lower right of my belly button, but I can feel the protrusion (and pop it back in) inside my belly button...

Some days it aches a bit, and I definitely pay attention to it when I am doing heavy lifting, etc. but as long as it doesn't get strangulated I'm probably not going to have surgery on it for a long time...

I'd definitely have a doctor look at it... But from my readings on them, people live with hernias of all types for a long time without getting them repaired... But it does sound like it can turn into a medical emergency pretty rapidly if it ever gets strangulated.

I've got one right now myself.  They found it at my yearly work physical. Mine bothers me from time to time especially after lifting or doing any strenuous work. Gonna have it fixed in November be out of work 6-8 weeks I'm told.

    • Yeah, I am not giving up on him yet but I do think we need to see a pretty big step up this season to be convinced he is a long term solution. It is a shame that his development seemed to be stunted in 2023.
    • To put the question simply: Would you be happy with a Steelers trade that doesn't bring back their first-round pick next year? A potential trade between us and Pittsburgh is interesting because depending on which draft value chart you use, Pittsburgh has two totally natural trades available to them, but they're very different. The Jimmy Johnson chart says the difference between us at 8 and them at 21 is 600 points, or almost exactly the value of the last pick in the 1st round. That falls in line with how teams tend to discount future picks. 8 for 21 and next year's Pitt 1st is almost exactly equal. More modern charts (Chase Stuart, Fitz) are much flatter, and 8 for 21 and 83, Pittsburgh's next pick this year, are basically equal.  Now, the second one obviously won't actually happen--the Lions had to include pick 73 just to move from 29 to 24 last year, and Pittsburgh would clearly be making a much bigger jump. But given the flatness of this draft and the lack of blue-chip players at the top, would you accept some mix of 21, 83, and next year's non-first-rounders from Pittsburgh, or would you want Dan Morgan barred from every touching the draft again for accepting anything less than next year's first?
    • just ask XL, to date he is has never been wrong about what we are doing w/ our first pick
