I didn't switch to the Taints game until the second half, and lol'd when the homer announcers talked about how they erased a 17pt deficit. did anyone see how they looked in Q1? Cooks didn't have a catch until Q2. how were the 1s?

Brees didn't play on offense. Neither did Colston. Mccown started and looked awful. Threw one in the dirt towards an open Cooks early. I think the Saints only played 6 offensive snaps in the first quarter. The line looked solid, outside of Evans. He's who I've been worried about going into the season, and he did nothing to ease that fear. He looked awful. Cooks made a couple nice plays. The long TD on the screen right after hauling in a long TD bomb, unfortunately he stepped out of bounds before he caught it. 

The defense didn't look good. They stayed in base 43 with the starters. Kikaha played OLB and had a lot of coverage. Looked awful in it. I think 3 of the receptions came against him to the FB or TE leaking into the flat. Anthony was solid. All over the place. Jordan was unblockable. In the backfield the whole drive. They just chipped away with the run game on a 12 play 80 yard drive. All runs and check downs. Flacco got flushed by Jordan and whoever was on the other side lost contain and Flacco picked up 20. It wasn't a good start by the ones.

I think it's always big to lose a starter, to be frank. Not sure how this season will turn out, but the #2 corner was a huge problem last year. Browner was supposed to fix that. Hopefully it's minor.

OK.  See?  That is why we tried to have this thread.  I agree.  Browner was a band-aid, not a bad band-aid at all, but he is not what your season hinges on. 

In my opinion, the Saints season hinges on Brees' attempt to hold back Father Time and your team's incompetence regarding defense as a whole. 

You have some weapons (I covet Cooks) but I just can't see the Saints winning more than 6 games this year.

Definitely a band aid. Hes 31 on a 3 year deal. Saints have a lot of young guys at corner. SJB, Breaux and PJ Williams. Hopefully they develop to take over for Browner. 

I think the season hinges on the young guys on defense that will have to step up. How good will Anthony be? Can Kikaha be at least a decent pass rusher opposite of Jordan? The interior of the line got no push and couldn't plug gaps at all last year, and the first drive didn't look like it got any better, but it's only game 1. Is SJB ready to step up. The guy has been balling in camp and didn't give up a single catch tonight and probably played the most snaps on defense. He looks to have really made progress. 

Id like to see a few more preseason games first. Especially with Brees. I'd like to see how the offense looks with him. Right now I'm saying 8. I think the offense will be good enough to win 7-8 games, like it always is. It all hinges on the defense.

Early reports are nothing major for Browner and Breaux. That would be a huge sigh of relief.

As much as I hate the Saints, I don't want to see any of their players hurt. Injury bug seems to be hitting them early. Hopefully they are straight.

Their Kick returner looks really good. Speedy and good vision.

Their RB's look legit as well. Khiry Robinson stood out to me.

Their rookie QB looked good in the limited time I've seen him. He can run too.

Defense looks like dog poo and it won't help them nearly all those injuries are also on defense.

Watched the game online. 

Agree. Their rookie kick returner (Murphy) is definitely gonna cause trouble.  One to keep an eye on.

Penalties killed the Saints.  For awhile it seemed like every play had a flag...

Brees never played. 

Saints looked awful in Q1 and early Q2. (Baltimore scored their 1st 4 possessions - TD, TD, FG, FG)  Baltimore moved the ball at will.  The Saints went 3 and out twice, only had possession approx 3 mins.  Looked like it was gonna be a bad blow out, but then the Saints got into a bit more of rhythm towards the end of the 1st half.
