Third most receiving yards, sixth most receptions, and tenth most TDs of all receivers since 2001, plus the most all-purpose yards of any player since 2001. He'd have a great case to get in even if he were to retire today.

My favorite player in franchise history (up til Cam/Luke)...   I made a thread a few years ago about it.  My argument was that looking at his numbers, they're better than TONS of HOF'ers, and when considering the lack of talent around him, the years we couldn't even get him the ball, the injuries, etc.,he would easily get in because there has never been another WR like him.  I love Smitty, and in my mind, he's a first ballot HOF'ER, but I think they'll make him wait a few years, much like Tim Brown, because he doesn't have a championship, and likely because he wasn't always media friendly.  I'm confident he'll get in sooner than later though.

Aside from maybe Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders, I don't think there are many in the history of the game that deserved HOF more. The stuff Smith has accomplished despite his lack of physical stature and people not believing in him is a testament to his hard work and desire to be the best.

I love Steve also but he isn't up there! Lol. 

 

I hope he gets in but idk, I doubt it. He'll always be in the HOF for my heart tho.....

Tim Brown got in and he only had 9 years with 1,000 yds +.  Steve Smith has 8.

I had a thought the other day that what if it ends up being Panthers vs Ravens in the Superbowl, and Josh Norman picks Joe Flacco off while covering Smitty to end the game.

 

That would be some epic fuggin sht.

There is nothing on this Earth, not one person or thing, that would keep me from wanting the Panthers to win the Super Bowl if (when) they play in one. 

that said, if the Panthers and Ravens play in this year's super bowl and the ravens simply play the better game and win, i wont be one bit sad. Smith deserves a ring. since this is his last chance, then i hope he gets one, so long as it doesnt keep the Panthers from winning their first Super Bowl

There's no doubt that Steve Smith deserves a spot in the NFL HOF. Smith is by far the best WR to wear a Carolina Panthers uniform. I'm not over it and I hate what we did. He should've played his entire career here...

It would break my heart to see Smitty lose a SB to the Panthers. But if the Raven's make it to the superbowl Smitty would have padded his post season stats that much more and would probably be a certain lock for the HOF at that point. 

I also recognize all the sht he talked about the team when he left. Rivera/Cam/Luke/TD, all those guys have worked so hard for this team the past few years. They deserve the ring as much as anyone else now.
