...minions? Not in the sense of a tower defense game, unless I am misunderstanding what you are saying.

There were patrols that wandered around near a keep so the guild controlling it knew if it came under attack, and there was a Keep Lord that had to be killed to take the keep, but there weren't waves of enemies that attacked a lane of towers or anything.

daoc's style of pvp is referred to as "realm versus realm" because it had factions fighting for control over objectives etc, so if you hear people refer to rvr they are usually talking about different sides fighting over territory or objectives of some kind. people are referring to GW2's WvWvW as "RVR" because even though it isn't faction based, it's "world" based.

theoretically Ilium or w/e may be "RVR", but it'll only be 2 sides and I have yet to meet anyone who has actually tested it so I have no idea what it is like.

DAOC and WAR both had the same style of PvP, since Mythic made both of them.

That style of PvP (RvR, as it's referred to) is honestly my favorite. DAOC's PvP was better, because of the third faction, but, I thought both PvPs were fantastic.

I guess there was a concept of tower defense in taking/defending keeps, but it wasn't "buy and upgrade, win". It was more in-depth, and more strategic than that.

SWTOR's PvP really reminds me more of WoW's Battlegrounds than WAR of DAOC's RvR Lakes.

Any of you guys get the early invite today? I went to the official swtor forums a bit ago just to see what was going on and I've never seen such a level of whiny nerdrage.
