Star Wars The Old Republic

why?

do you really think this is going to be anymore than another vanilla mmo that cashes in on the massive star wars circle jerk?

granted, the same could be said for lotro, but if i'm not mistaken its actually one of the better mmos out

and ddo just offers a wide variety of gameplay styles; 50$ will get you all the necessary content to fully enjoy the game.

i played ddo a good 10 months straight, then another several months last fall, and will probably pick it up again this fall, thousands of hours for just 50$

i see no point in paying to play any mmo monthly, much less pay a huge account fee before i can legitimately try the game.

theoretically you can get everything free in ddo if you grind up the favor points as well; getting halfway to cap level is pretty easy without paying a dime.

I was the opposite. I don't think quests start getting good until around level 7 or so, and pretty much just get better from there on out.

But they get more complex and require a wider variety of gaming skills too.

I've got a level 17 TR bard I need to go finish out. Just waiting for an xp bonus weekend.

I got to about level 13 and I couldn't do it anymore because I felt myself repeating the same dungeons and I wasn't enjoying it as much. it didn't help that my group of friends got kinda bored with it.

Combat was fun, but honestly, I also felt like levels didn't mean much and came too infrequently. I felt like the hook of MMOs wasn't there, and the quests weren't compelling enough overall for them alone to keep me hooked.
