don't expect this to be anything other than KOTOR3,4,5, etc... at least, I'm not. I'll be buying it and playing it and loving it... but I don't expect to subscribe to it for very long. I'll get as much as I can out of the story though.

I haven't seen anything that makes me think the game will be much of an MMO, but it should be a kick ass RPG with some social elements.

I'm going to pick up Rift: Planes of Telara to play around with a bit in my free time as my MMORPG... though with graduate school I don't have a ton of gaming time, but plenty of forum time. Yipee.

You're actually 100% right. When I tested the beta a year ago there was no need whatsoever for grouping up and it played just like KotOR with social elements... was that bad? No. Keep in mind however I only played the first 10 levels and you normally don't need to party in any MMO if you go about it the right way. However, TOR rewards you with great storytelling should you solo it OR group, whereas most MMO's don't. I also only tested the first 10 levels and that was back in November.... soo.....

I'm in... did the Beta for SWG too.. didn't make it past 5th level in that game before I gave up in disgust. This game is much different than SWG. I can't go into any details, or possibly break the NDA, but keep an open mind and don't compare the two.

The story.. just wow. Incredible :)

Until and unless a game comes along that adds a /dance feature that emulates any number of modern club dances, includes little pet bunnies that follow you around that squeak when you click them, has gameplay mechanics that have a microangled learning curve which suddenly shoots up through the roof to keep the hardcore gamers interested, and most importantly - has summonable cake...

WoW isn't going to be surpassed... ever. Unfortunately.

fug the NDA, i already talked about the beta test I had like 5 post before yours. They're not re-inviting me so fug them now. Like you said, its nothing like SWG, not that i've ever played SWG, i just no SWG is nothing like WoW and TOR is a WoW clone with Mass Effect 2 storyline. I started out as the Republic Trooper class, it didn't play like any class Ive played before but the closest I can think of would be Rouge from WoW because his ammo bar = energy bar, yet trooper is a tank class so it didn't play like a rouge. It was awesome in that his story was completely different from the other 7 classes starting story.

Hmmm. I am mildly interested in this game. I played WoW like 3 years ago, haven't touched another MMO since then.

I briefly looked into the game. Not many class combinations that I saw. What is it, 4 classes? Are they different for both sides?

Was there a monthly fee to play?

I will have to look into it more, but I am going to definitely wait it out to see if it is worth the price. I am looking for a MMO that isn't the WoW grind that I experienced 3 years ago. That became pointless.

From what I see and hear about the game is that the story is what set the game apart from wow.. I think if you are unsure about the game probably should wait for the trial or a buddy key for the game before buying and the game is 14.95 a month like every other mmo.

It's generally considered that the advanced classes are the actual 'classes'. So there are really 8 classes, 16 if you count both sides.

Hello all,

There is no Beta Testing Weekend scheduled for this weekend. There may be further Beta Testing Weekends during September, but we're not going to guarantee it. The weekend that just finished was really our first dry run of Beta Testing Weekends as a whole, and we have plenty of data to crunch, and decisions to make before we start things up again.

Further to that, as Chris Collins explained in another thread, we are about to roll out a major new build for The Old Republic. That build won't be ready for this weekend. Just as we did not feel it was a good decision to ask potential EU testers to download our client only to have to download it again, the same applies for this weekend.

That does not mean, however, that as soon as our new build is available we'll be rolling out a Beta Testing Weekend immediately. As with any new build of the game, we need to get feedback from internal testing and our ongoing Game Testing program before rolling it out to a massive audience. That process takes a while, and that time varies depending on how testing goes.

We rolled out this previous weekend as a relatively small scale event; from now we will do bigger and bigger events, but that doesn't mean it happens every weekend. When we do resume, we'll be inviting many more people in.

While many of you are excited and anxious to know what's happening regarding Testing Weekends, I want to point out that a lot of posts on the subject with a lack of corresponding posts from us does not mean that we're not listening, or not aware of your interest. It shows your interest in the topic, which is understandably high, but we will not always be able to react instantaneously.

In the past couple of days we've been preparing a comprehensive FAQ regarding Game Testing Weekends as a whole, along with some details about the weekend that just happened. We'll post that tomorrow - in all languages, as we know the subject is of interest to everyone.
