I Am Watching Breaking Bad, Finally...

Sons of anarchy is awful. It's like a testosterone filled soap.

you can tell bad shows from the good by the way they try to draw your attention. With bad shows you'll get over dramatic, unrealistic, scenarios with shock value and slight suspense perfect for a shallow, short attention span. Walking dead is a perfect example of utter crap.  America eats this up.

good shows build, develop and progress while at the same time keep your attention. It isn't easy, and is never popular....at first. The shows draws you in slowly and keeps your attention by story and character building. Sopranos did this, breaking bad does this, the wire somewhat does this.

Finished it a couple of days ago.   Incredible series!  Some thoughts:

I still hate skyler...   What a bitch.  And her sister?   An even bigger bitch.  That's poo is the exact reason I keep family at a distance, lol...  If she would've just minded her fuging business, her husband probably would've lived.  She was just so annoying.  And again, just everything about skyler irked me...  She was a cheater, a manipulator, and just an overall bitch.  I know certain things have to be worked into the show to keep it fresh and interesting (ie conflict), but the part of me that refuses to suspend disbelief was pissed off that she ever got involved with walt's "other" life.  When you get too many cooks in the kitchen (pun intended), things get sloppy.  Too many people got involved and that was the beginning of the end.

That being said, if all is right and fair in the world, Walt had it coming to him.  I was definitely conflicted because knowing the reason he started out doing it was why I justified his actions...   Where he lost my support was when he adjusted his view of others' value based on his desire to not just provide our his family, but to feed his ego...   Poisoning the kid, murdering multiple people who most likely weren't threats, etc, he just went over the edge and couldn't come back...   He lost his humanity...  But still, it's hard not to hope he succeeds in making a fortune for his family.

I felt bad for Jesse throughout.  For some reason, when it was still on the air and I'd see previews, I always was under the impression that he and Walt were BFFs throughout the entire series...  So I was disappointed to find out how their relationship actually played out.  I tried to hold onto the idea that Walt really did view him as a son and cared about him.   I think that was the core of his relationship with jesse early on, but slowly it turned into a condescending abuse of jesse.  Additionally, you can't get much shittier than having every girl you fall in love with die, your parents pretty much disown you, and then you get held prisoner to cook method while living in a fuging drain for months lol.  His life just sucked throughout the show.  I was disappointed in that he and Walt didn't have a final "I understand you now, you'll always be like a dad/son to me"  moment after Walt saved him at the end.  But, that is pretty much the only way they could end it.  I also wish they would've shown jesse informing the family and all that Walt actually tried to save hank and gomez and at least clear his name on that front.

The reason I mentioned clearing Walt of hank's death was because although he embraced being the bad guy at the end, I just really wish the family hadn't turned Walt Jr.  Against his dad, and hank's death played a huge role in that...   And in actuality, hank's death, imo, was hank, skyler, and Marie' 's fault...   Not walt's.  Hank was a likeable character, but ultimately, I feel he did it to himself.

And finally, I'd like to point out that walt's "I am the danger"  speech and gus' death scene are possibly two of the greatest moments in TV history.

lol I see this reaction all the time and I think it's so stupid.

Was Skylar annoying? At times, but she is the one who was a victim. Yeah she stuck her hand in the fire, but her speech in 58 is pretty much why her character does what she does the whole series. She doesn't know what to do. If she tells the police, her brother in law is completely ruined and her children will go without a father, as well as resent her. Family is VERY important to Skylar and Walt, why else do you think they are constantly around? That is why Marie is always involved, as is hank. They are about their only acquaintances and friends. Now, by the second half of season 5, if you wanna dog Skylar, that's fine, Hank gave her a chance to come clean and she chose not to, so then she got what she had coming, before that no.

Walt was a piece of trash who got what he deserved. He chose the easy route and tried to get money fast and illegally. Everybody would love to have plenty of money in the world for their family, but this is reality, most of us don't get that life. So we have to work hard till we die and then those we leave behind, they are on their own. Constantly given chances to walk away and he waits way too long to do it.

Hank was always just trying to do his Job, and yeah, the "It's his fault" For trying to bring in a criminal? Yeah occupational hazard I suppose, lol that's about it. Otherwise, it's literally 100% walts fault pure and simple.

But to each their own.

Awesome awesome awesome show though.

Sons Of Anachry, after season 2, is incredibly, incredibly bad. It's insanely bad after that season.

Please no spoilers in replies...   I watched a few episodes in the middle seasons a few years back and I thought it was great, but I had no idea about the context of a lot of the situations, so I decided to wait and watch from the beginning, so as not to cheat myself.

So, now that True Detective is off, Fear The Walking Dead doesn't start until later this month, and TWD doesn't start until October, I finally decided to delve in.  So, I started a couple of days ago, and I'm addicted...  It has ruined my gym plans for the last three nights lol.  I'm now in season three, episode three...

One huge observation that I feel compelled to share - I have found Skylar to be unlike able from the very beginning and had a feeling that she was just a giant, monster of a bitch waiting for the mask to melt off.  I feel right in making that prediction, so far.  What a bitch...

Saying Sons of Anarchy is bad makes you look like a whiny baby. Not only is it a great show (we only have 5 episodes left) but most people who appreciate the best shows (BB, GoT) also enjoy it.

Everyone has their tastes though.  I'm sure there are people who think GoT and BB are trash, while gobbling up shows like CSI and American Idol...both of which I can't stand.

It's kind of like Oz which I'm still watching, god help me.  Some people really dig it.  I just find the plot lines to be a little bit unbelievable.  In order for me to watch and enjoy a show I MUST buy into the story lines.  The story lines MUST be believable in the context of a show.  Which is why I can buy dragons and Melissandre in GoT.  It's a fantasy show which things like that are common place.  But in Oz there are too many schizophrenic characters for my tastes.  It's almost like they want to take every bad possibility and force it into the show whether or not it fits a particular characters personality.

I'm going to give Sons of Anarchy a go, and I'll probably finish out Oz even given all that I've said.  Oz does have some redeeming qualities, just not enough to make it a great show.  Right now on a scale of 1-10 I'd give Oz a 5 or 6.
