The next big Scorsese-Leo Project

I see what captroop  means. I don't want to go all film snob but as much as i love Leo's work, imo, he falls into an odd trap of  being in scene chewing roles and a victim of his own success .

He  does  need a lighthearted  role and  be a supporting actor.

the last  few movies  have l been ao over the top. Give me subtle

Like which movies specifically?

He was fantastic in Django Unchained, as was Jamie Fox, and obviously Christoph Waltz.

The Wolf of Wall Street was pretty much supposed to be over the top considering who the film was based on. Leo was still very good in it.

The Great Gatsby was decent, I just wasn't terribly into it. Decent performance from Leo.

J. Edgar I did not really care for much at all.

Inception was really good, but not really an award winning role for Leo, still a good performance.

Shutter Island to me was really good as well, solid performance, not a movie for everyone though.

Blood Diamond was a really good role for Leo.

Obviously I've already stated how I feel about The Departed earlier in this thread.

The Aviator was a fantastic performance.

Catch Me If You Can was another really good performance from Leo, and a great film. Tom Hanks was great as always.

Gangs of New York is certainly a really good film, but I've never been all that big on it. Good performance from DiCaprio. Day Lewis stole the show though.

The Revenant with DiCaprio, and Tom Hardy will be coming out in January, that looks to be a good change of pace role for him. Not to mention Hardy is a great actor, those two should feed off each other, should be a very good film. The trailer shows off some quality cinematography.

All in all, it sounds like some of the roles he has chosen are just not your cup of tea. Which is cool. Different strokes for different folks.

Django, Catch me if.you can and blood diamond are the subtle ones.

the rest are very similar.  Don't misunderstand me. I think he is great, it's thst he is falling into some recurring traps of scene chewing films. Other less pronounced roles with some nuances i would like to to see more.

Not a big Leo fan as I think everything he's done in the last 10 years has been over the top.

Go back and watch some of his early stuff (Gilbert Grape, This Boy's Life, Marvin's Room) when I thought he was really good. Then came Titanic and, as one paper put it, 9 of his last 14 films he's played an over-the-top rich fug.

The Aviator was awesome but I never saw Ray Charles with Jamie Foxx. Can't say for sure but the Academy loves them some actors who play people with disabilities they don't really have. Leo was great in The Aviator though.

Then Leo definitely should've won for What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Apparently people were legitimately surprised to find out he wasn't actually mentally disabled.
