D. Newton thinks Byrd headed to PS, but I hope not...in a way.

and the very same thing.could be said about other UDFA WRs such as Lucky Whitehead,Tyrell Williams,Jordan Taylor,etc...

i personally believe Byrd would clear waivers

32 tears are not going to pass on Byrd. He is too complete.  Hell a RB we had that did almost nothing didn't but yet you think Byrd will? That's foolish.

We have two choices,  cut Byrd and lose him or keep him and take the risk Bersin or Cotchery may go to another team and ball out. I know my choice.

If Byrd is making plays in preseason, I would not take the chance on him clearing waivers on the way to the practice squad.

Also, David Newton seems like a cool dude, but he's about the last guy I would listen to in regards to potential roster moves like this.

I would be fine with keeping 7 WR's. I'm not sold that we actually will though, considering we've never had more than 6 since Rivera has been head coach.

That spot would have to come from somewhere though. Favorites like Joe Webb, or Brandon Williams would likely be heading out.

1.170 pds. is a concern considering the physicality of the NFL

2.has never returned a punt in college.so no ST attributes to speak of on his resume

3 will NEVER be able to play the 1 or2,solely a vertical slot receiver

4.will struggle in tight coverage and especially  contested balls

5 will be a liability in blocking

now ,.his vertical speed should complement Came big arm.however,he is about as about much of a one trick pony as you will find and he is darn good at that one trick...that i agree

so no.i don't think it's foolish whatsoever to think that he would clear waivers  at this stage of his NFL carerr heck,he went  undrafred, and the other 31 teams were aware of what he  has flashed in camp...which is SPEED

I'm not overly concerned about Byrd.  He's incredibly fast, but he's incredibly raw too.  He needs a while to develop as a viable 53 man WR.  If we're able to develop him on the PS, great!  If another teams picks him up and wants to sign him, then best of luck to him!  Right now, he does not deserve a WR spot over KB, DF, Ginn, Brown, Cotch and Bersin.  All six of them are miles ahead of him.

so you gonna compare a 3rd round pick with a chip on his shoulder from Cali.  To a dude from South Carolina that went Undrafted?  Hahahahaha.  Oh Lawd.  You guys fuging kill me.

No I'm not at all. You're confusing yourself. You stated that Byrd will be nothing more than practice squad and that it's BECAUSE he's 5'9. That's completely ridiculous. Nowhere did I compare him to Smitty or say he'd be as good as Smitty or any of that nonsense. Just that there have been successful receivers who are 5'9.

Of course, but more than likely the percentage of him being successful with that stature isn't high.  Especially undrafted.

as I said before I will let preseason prove you wrong. Byrd is as complete as Brown was last year and we don't need a Punt/Kick return man so that's just stupid.

Wes Welker

Miles Austin

Victor Cruz

All these receivers went undrafted. Is Byrd as good as these guys?

Probably not but don't be so quick to write off any player that shines during camp no matter his draft status.

Thats really not the question, the question is he better than Bersin or Cotchery.
