Olsen not worried about the offense and redzone

Who needs redzone offense when you have Damiere Byrd flying down the field for TDs? :)

my thoughts exactly. ;) go gamecocks!

People worrying about Oher is not chicken little. Its a relevant question that Oher has not put to rest. Oher has yet to dominate one DE yet and its the same thing that happened to Bell last year.

your chicken little response does nothing to convince me to freak out. we've said all offseason that Oher doesnt have to dominate DE's for our offense to work. He doesnt have to dominate to be better than Bell. all he needs to do is stand his ground, which he seems to be doing in spurts. and even when he cant hold his ground, he at least attempts to stay engaged with the play, unlike the turnstile he replaced. Oher is not perfect, and i am 99% sure the Panthers will still be keeping their eyes open for our future franchise LT next offseason. But Oher is proving that he will be serviceable. take some midol and some ritalin, sit back, and enjoy the ride...

Only problem is he has not been holding his ground. Thus why they are trying new talent there already.

really? i said he has been doing it in spurts. ive seen it with my own eyes and frankly the news reports from this site and others agree with me. he doesnt have consistency yet, but that should come as the offense gets its timing down.

oh and here's a shocker for you... they are trying new talent because its training camp.

try again.

So every time Derick Anderson runs with the first team offense that means Cam is not going to start?

Oher is the Obama and you guys are Fox News.  It's really hard to take you serious when you guys just throw out blanket "OMG He sucks" comments.

It's just like the Vine Igo posted yesterday.  He holds his block for at least 4-5 seconds and depending on who was watching you see 2 different things.

1 person sees Cam only had 5 seconds.

Another sees.. Wow Cam had a whole 5 seconds.

Oher has had mixed reports.  Just because he doesn't pancake everyone he plays against doesn't mean he sucks.  Gross wasn't a throw anyone on his back type of LT either but he held long enough.   Thats all Oher has to do.  Hold long enough.

He may not be the answer but damn, don't blame everything on him.  Believe it or not, there are other people on the Oline that are getting beat occasionally, however no one makes a big deal of that.

So because you say so? Yea no offense but I'm not buying that.

It bugs me that a team with Cam(I mean the true weapon here), Olsen, toldozer, stew, and KB sucks in the red zone!!! That lineup should strike fear in defenses once inside the 20.

This team has been struggling in the red zone for two years now.

Because of Shula. Ever since that bum became the OC, the team has struggled in the red zone.

We are not struggling in the redzone.  We struggled on the first install of the redzone offense on the 4th day of camp.  The last 2 years we have had few weapons on offense but that has changed.  Lets at least wait until the season starts to talk about how we are sucking again.

P55 i know you defend shula, that's fine I defended Dan Henning. The weapons I listed have been here two minus KB. Smitty may have been short but he's a beast even in the red zone(jumping, vet skills, quick, etc.) Shulas got what 25+ teams would gladly trade for in the red zone.

Three years ago shula led the offense to I believe 10th red zone rating. Shula is great til they hit the 50 yard line, then he loses his balls. He starts calling scared prevent plays, it sickens me. Hes even far more conservative once red zone, even with some of the best weapons in entire league.

No it doesnt.  One player even the left tackle is not the reason we will struggle or not.  we can gameplan to help out whoever plays that position and likely run more to the right side which is typically where you have your big maulers anyway.  As for passing in the redzone, those plays are typically quick hitters, lobs and screens anyway so an offensive guy doesnt have to hold off defenders for more than 3 seconds.

Unless Cam gets the ball out a lot quicker than what he is now, left tackle is a big issue.
