Doubt it. They can't redo the contract and who are they going to cut/redo to get the cap space? They have a boatload of contracts expiring after this year already.

I read something earlier that they may be considering a move to a 4-3 because they are too thin at LB to continue in a 3-4. I think thats crazy talk since we are 7 days away from the first game, but maybe an extra first helps with that next year.

There's one obvious reason it doesn't make sense....we're one week away from the first game. But....

Rumor was New England was the team Pep really wanted to play for

New England just freed up a bunch of money, and maybe Belichick wants Pep's overall explosiveness and thinks he can get another 2004 out of him. Maybe in their mind they get a more productive player AND a first round pick in 2011.

Fox might want to get rid of a player who didn't want to play for him (wondering if he's rubbing off on this defense with his attitude) and Lord knows what the Panthers could get from NE.

It's a longshot, but....damn that was a weird trade on New England's part.
