Anyone know where that phrase "once in a blue moon" comes from?  Just throwing it out there that it doesn't have anything to do with the moon actually being blue.

From what I read last night a out it, the phrase comes from the rarity of the blue moon itself. As the last one of them was in 2012? and the next isn't until 2018 or something. Other than that... No idea. Lol

A blue moon is 2 full moons in one months time.  Which, given that the moon's cycle takes 29.53 days to complete.  This would mean Full moon at the beginning and end of the month.
