what's the maddest you've ever been as a panthers fan?

08 Cardinals loss. Spent a ton of time looking for tickets so a group could go. Made the trip from out of town. Assumed we had it in the bag after our first quick score only to witness the greatest turd ever laid at BOA. Anger paled in comparison, though, to my buddy who took off his brand new authentic Delhomme jersey he'd just gotten for Christmas, wadded it up and left it under his seat. Left the stadium in utter disgust.

DeAngelo fumble against Seattle, Jerricho Cotchery stopping in the middle of a route leading to an INT, Delhomme throwing ducks into the Cards secondary, Nakamura getting burnt.

The absolute worst was us getting stonewalled against the 49ers in 2013 on the goalline. And when Kaperdick did the Superman pose.

Honorable mention to Junior Galette sacking Cam on SNF and pretending to stomp on a Superman cape. Surprised he didn't pretend to whip Cam with a belt. fug him.

Are we talking all time, or the last 5 years or so? It's hard to choose just one.

The Super Bowl loss wasn't so much about being mad as it was just being incredibly disappointed.

Obviously Jake in the Arizona game is going to be at or near the top.

In terms of being purely maddening and rage inducing though, Rivera's WTF moments during games are tough to top.

I'm gonna say Matt Willig throwing the flag back at the ref taking us out of field goal range in Denver. It's definitely top 5. I still rant about that damn flag and how it kept us out of the playoffs.

That special teams play with Gamble in Minnesota is up there too. I was fuging pissed.

I don't get too worked up about bad calls but I remember back in 2005 when we lost to Dallas. I remember Julius Jones running all over us then if I remember correctly a BS call on Julius Peppers and Ken Lucas on a field goal put Dallas in position to score the TD and win the game.

From last season when Kuechly got tossed I wasn't so much angry as laughing at just how ridiculous that whole game was then lets just toss a player for no reason.

Wow, the maddest I have ever been?  That is one hell of a question for a Panthers fan.  I would have to categorize the anger.

in-Game moment?  2010 was a season of lows.  I lived in Florida during the 1-15 debacle in 2001 so I was removed from the misery.  I moved back in 2005 but 2010 was a rough season man.  When Ray Lewis returned that INT for a TD and literally 35,000+ Ravens fans rocked BofA Stadium, my blood boiled.  It was a meaningless play in a meaningless game in a meaningless season but I was so pissed off at what this team had become in 2010.  It was pathetic.  There was no hope in 2010 and going to the games was a horrid experience.

Outside the painted lines moment?  In 2012 I had to sit in BofA stadium and listen to Broncos fans laugh at how pathetic the BofA home field advantage is.  The stadium was 60% orange.  My neighbor, a Denver native, felt pity on me but his dad went on and on about how it was a Broncos home game.  I was so angry at my fellow Panther fans and carry that grudge today.

Peppers cleared hit the ball changing it's trajectory.  good choice

    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
    • I didn't say I would have done it. I was just saying that I can see why some in the FO considered it. Everything was done to give Bryce weapons. Solidify the interior line thru FA. Get XL at WR in round 1 and then get the most talented RB in round 2. Take a TE in round 4, etc They were probably "assuming" he'd make a complete recovery during the 2024 season. I'm a skeptical person. I wouldn't have assumed he'd be ok in 2024. I personally would have taken another position in the 2nd for that very reason. But, if I were "influenced" to take him I would've argued to keep him off the field, especially seeing how things were going for us record wise. Conventional Wisdom says most backs don't get back to normal until two years after the ACL surgery. He was injured in Fall 2023. Having him suit up in 2025 would have been almost 2 years since the original injury. You have him for 3 year on low contract. If he balls out, you resign him for a couple of more years b/c he'd only have 3 years of tread on the tires. If he's ok but not great you let him walk.
