Gregg Williams says he didn't mean it

“That was a difficult year in a lot of ways because there was a lot of information that was misinformation that got out and I’m the only person in the whole deal that never said anything,” Williams said. “I never said a word. Everybody got out there and pushed their information one way or the other and I didn’t.”

That said, Williams testified in the hearing regarding player suspensions, at one point claiming he tried to stop the bounty program but that Saints assistant head coach/linebackers Joe Vitt insisted that it continue.

“One of the things was it was on my watch, but there was nothing that hasn’t been done in the last 50 years in the sport and there was nothing done to try to hurt somebody,” Williams said. “There was never done with anybody trying to injure somebody.

Williams says bounties weren't about inflicting injuries

And I'm sure he won't coach any of his Rams defensive guys to play dirty, either..

I mean, Jeff Fisher would never allow that, right?

I love this part...

We believe you, Gregg.  Really we do.

Lets be honest here.  Exactly what did you expect from Williams.  Passing the buck and lying and simply two of the many things he does and has done for years.  All cloaked in the veil of being misunderstood while he preaches doing everything you can to win at all costs including intentionally injuring players.  His ends justify the means with few boundaries.  Makes him a scary guy in a violent sport that needs regulation to counterbalance those guys who lack a moral compass and forget that intentionally ending the career of a football player crosses a line and sends you down a slippery slope.

    • Yeah don't get me started on that. He ran cam into the ground
    • I once again wake up eat my breakfast and then read bs…man your logic only works in your head I can give you multiple examples but I’ll start with one easy clear example of it matters who you’re getting and what you’re planning on doing. Jadevon C and Khalil Mack were drafted before Aaron Donald 2014 biggest mistake of the draft as we look back and redraft or whatever. It doesn’t make sense to take a DE over a DT thats a stud game changing elite defensive player. You can’t draft of generalization typically you want a DE first but nowadays DT are just as impactful so you better choose right LA got a chip bc of Donald meanwhile K Mack is on his second team and J Clowney on his third  team. We don’t draft positions we draft elite prospects Graham seems to be a more productive disruptive player than either DE we may get. A Carter who I want is a Micah P clone they say I can see him impacting the pass game but the run game might leave him as a non factor. And right now our main focal point on defense this offseason will be stopping the run. We’ll be able to create pressure with A Barno back Wonnum healthy and a mix of blitzing which has helped us generate pass rush lately.  Graham if he allows us to stop the run and he generates a pass rush himself which at Michigan he’s know to do both consistently helps our defense then start controlling games would be a better pick then Carter for us moving forward so let’s dive deeper then just pick a DE over a DT because there’s so many factors to weigh out with these top ten picks in the nfl draft.
