Kepler discovers Earth sized planet in habitable zone...

It's depressing to think about...one million years from now or so some advanced alien species might look at Earth which resembles current Mars, and they'll speculate what might have been here.

Unfortunately Bieber and Nickleback will survive. Canada wins in the end...I've skipped ahead in the book of life and read the end. It's depressing.

the surface will be covered with twinkies, McDonalds french fries and cigarette butts.

I felt like putting a bullet between the
eyes of every Panda that wouldn't screw to save its species. I wanted to open the dump valves on oil tankers and smother all the French beaches I'd never see. I wanted
to breathe smoke.

NASA estimates 1 billion ‘Earths’ in our galaxy alone

There are a billion Earths in this galaxy, roughly speaking. Not a million. A billion. We’re talking 1 billion rocky planets that are approximately the size of the Earth and are orbiting familiar-looking yellow-sunshine stars in the orbital “habitable zone” where water could be liquid at the surface.

Kind of makes the discovery a bit more "meh".

Not really... That's an estimate and this is the first Earth like planet we've actually discovered... I have no doubt we'll find more, and probably in the next 20 years we'll find another earth... I just hope we can figure out a way to get there.
