Smitty is still my favorite panther of all time. I wish him luck with the Ravens and I will still continue to cheer for my boys in Charlotte. I believe one day he will retire a panther. Jerry still loves him and it doesn't appear he was offended by anything Steve said. He even joked with him before the game when we played the Ravens on how Steve will celebrate once he scores. Anyone who didn't see Smitty making some jabs at the Panthers were kidding themselves.  At the time it was all going down, he handled it perfectly.  He threw his barbs once all the attention was off of the situation.  

The same chip on his shoulder that made him a great player is that same chip on his shoulder that makes want to get in the last word and taunt opponents and punch teammates and all the other stuff that you'd rather not have.  You can't have one without the other.  For a 5'9" 185 pound man to go onto become a great NFL WR, he's gotta have one helluva chip on his shoulder.

Smitty acted like any other diva always.  We just defended it when he was OUR diva.  Smitty didn't change, our viewing perspective changed.

Steve Smith is way far down the list of all-time greatest Panthers.  Forgive me if I look at his entire body of work, not just his stats.  Can't help but take into account getting ejected from games, assault, general douchebaggery towards anyone who didn't share his opinion, etc...

Smith knows he burnt that bridge. Won't happen. I doubt JR would even let him at this point. He really made an ass of himself. Smith was the face of this franchise for a long time and will always be one of the greatest Panthers ever, and possibly even a HOFer, but he is a really shitty human being. Learn to separate the two.

Brett Favre is a MVP, Super Bowl Champion, and Hall of Fame QB who is considered one of the greatest players in NFL history. Steve Smith is a great WR who played for a subpar franchise in a league littered with great WRs. Not even close to the same thing.
