Shaun Smith (DT) released by the Lions...

Would be a great pickup ( compared to whats available ), as he was the projected starter for the Lions this season. I can see a team with more cap room like St.Louis who are also in need of a DT with the loss of Carriker picking him up..if he wants to play for a good team this year he will come in for a visit..

i wouldn't mind a complete nutcase. i would like it. we just have to tell him that every QB he sees in a non-panthers uniform is brady quinn and every other person running the ball is the browns GM and every offensive lineman in front of him is mangini.

easy. he's like the waterboy.

If you told me this guy would have been availible to pick up as soon as Kemo went down I would have never fretted about our dline situation. If he is signed he would immediately become our best dlinemen. Hes a player. Get him on a decent team and I would expect his attitude to change.

Was this a recent cut? Wonder if we went down to 51 while trying to get him? Hummmmmmm. Ok i know better dont get your hopes up with this front office.

OK, I checked out his stats, not the greatest in the world, but he does have the size we need inside right now. Plus, if he were to come to Carolina and be a good fit, he is still young enough (28) to keep around a while and develop into our system, which should not be hard at this point.

    • I call bullshit. Brady,Manning,Brees and Burrow are all just ball distributors. And the better thier supporting cast and more experience they got the better they got. Thier best attributes were between the ears.  Now I'm not saying Bryce is gonna turn into one of them but what I want is for him. Is to have a solid roster around him and some coaching continuity too see if he takes the next step. Because everything I've seen and read after the benching is that his mental toughness and workethic are what we need in a QB
    • Many criticize our picks in 2024. I believe that most of them were picked because their ceiling is better than those selected before them.  XLs needs to learn how to play in the NFL. Once he gets up to speed he'll be worthy of 32nd pick.  Brooks, showed why we took him in the few games he played. The ACL injury really sucks but he can overcome these setbacks. Remember TD had 3 ACLs and eventually will be in the ring of honor one day.  Wallace will be a solid LB going forward with experience  Sanders, TE is a tough position to play. He a getting valuable playing time and will become a good TE.  Going down the remaining draft pics all seem to have a good upside. They may not be showing much now but they will start showing their worth next season.
    • I think he's shown enough that if a QB fell to us at our pick we'd either draft a defensive player or trade down for more picks.
