Trophy Nation: How handing out trophies, regardless of success, may cause failure.

I'm 30 years old and have never gotten a trophy in anything.  If I ever coach a kids team, I'm going to lay out all of the trophies on a bed and lay naked with them for a while.

You're 30 too?  I got a few trophies, luckily, now and back them I didn't give two shits about them.

In the 80's they had bigger trophies for the winning teams and that is what we wanted. We wanted to win every week and usually did.  I couldn't have cared less about the tiny participatory trophies. I wanted that BASYL (Brandon Area Youth Soccer League) championship trophy.

We didn't give our flag football team trophies this past season. The little sons of bitches lost in the title game. Bling has to be earned.

I'm pretty sure there needs to be a manly men Hall of Fame.  You, Derek Jeter (he gives baskets of gifts to his females after he bangs them, then sends them on the way), Luke, Ron Burgundy, and Charlie Sheen all need statues in that Hall of Fame.

oh yeah, I wanted the tall trophies.  Whenever I was given a little @ss trophy, I didn't give 2 $hits about it.

When I grew up we only got trophies for actual awards... like having the highest batting average or winning the championship...

When my kids were growing up playing soccer and basketball, all the kids got some sort of trophy and I never agreed with that.

Teaching kids that everyone is a winner is not a great plan imo.  It's not real life and makes a for a rude awakening later on...

    • First of all, loved this video. I watched last night.   I normally not one to do, I told you so's,,,,, Most around here hated the fact Dan Morgan was promoted to GM.  In my eyes, he had paid his dues, and had earned the opportunity to run a team.  I dont know how anybody can be against him at this point.  He lives and breathes football.  He absolutely is the right man for the job.  I also have to give him credit for bringing Dace C, and Tillis.  This franchise has the best front office it has ever had, IMO.  And under Teppers ownership.     Keep pounding Dan.
    • He’s blowing up with the ladies on the tikitok
    • I met him at an OTA when he was rookie.  I liked him, and so did my small children.  I got a photo of him with my kids, and his nylon stretch shirt was ripped off his shoulder and down his side.  I remember thinking, "This was an OTA.  He must have been battling so hard (going full speed) that the OT grabbed him and ripped off his shirt."   Normally, there is a "rule" that you stop when you are not in full pads when the other player shows that he controlled you or is in position to--like pulling up and not hitting the RBs.  I got the feeling that he was going full throttle.  Just speculation, but it was consistent with what we would learn about him.
