Jags release Ace Sanders

Ace is better, younger, and cheaper than Ginn.

I think my favorite is when Huddler’s just make sh** up, better than Ginn, good lord. Ace has a career avg. of 9.5 yards per catch, and has ‘0’ touchdowns in his career. Even Ginn’s worst year is better than that. Ace had just 55 yards last year….55. Ginn’s career long beats Sanders 12 game total.

I don’t know why people are so quick to hate on Ginn, and some other players here, but Ginn had his ‘BEST’ year with Carolina in 2013 from a receiving touchdowns stand point, and arguably overall, and we were happy to have him back as a needed deep threat, and returner.

jags also have Blake Bortles. A rookie wb should not define a recivers talent. Cotch is what 35? Not many seasons left in him and these guy are all young budding talents. I dont think the blackmon story is over...Not many just walk away from the game. He will be back. I haven't seen where the  jags have released him.

You sure you're a Panther fan dang...

blackmon won't be back with the Jags. and i would take KB, Funch, Brown, Olsen as my 4 main receivers over Hurns, Thomas, and whoever else you think is the Jags 2 other best WRs

Micnificent28 gotta ask.  Why are you so hell bent on this borderline NFL WR being a Panther?  I seriously doubt that a WR dumped off Jacksonville's 90 man roster is going to be that piece missing to win the Super Bowl.   Honestly,  Not better than KB or the Rook Funchess, not better than Ginn or Brown.  Hill probably has more upside.   Bersin has more size period.  At a buck 75 I doubt he is going to lay anyone out on special teams.

Love the ole College spirit but some guys careers end after College he should be happy he got a couple years in the NFL.

We don't need him, obviously outside of you and one or two others no one really wants him.

For me, I am happy with the group we are going to camp with.  We have some bigger names than Ace Sanders that aren't going to make this team.

 Let it go.

Every time some player gets released from some other team, there's always someone on here that thinks that guy is the "final piece of the puzzle".

For me it feels like a car with an air conditioner thats about to die but wont quite go so you don't wanna replace it yet because it costs a lot but your still sweating your ass off in your car.

P.S thats Roman Harper.

I think the problem is perspective.

For one, way too many people think "good in college" or "good a couple of years ago" equals good now. As often as not, that isn't true.

Adding to that, people are way too quick to believe that a bad team releasing a player probably made a mistake. That doesn't happen as often as people think it does. Generally speaking, when a professional football team is releasing someone, there's a good reason

On the flipside, when guys get released from good teams, people think "oh, he was part of that good team so he must be better than the guys we've got."  Again, not always true. And as with the others, there's probably a reason they were let go.

Honestly though, the biggest mistake is people thinking "Hey we just need this one guy and we'll be in the Super Bowl". That's exactly the kind of mindset that Dave Gettleman has said will cause you to make a move you probably shouldn't.

It's okay for fans to make that mistake, of course. Lucky for us though, our GM knows not to.

I'm a Panthers Fan that watches more than Panther games. I can be honest with myself and not look at the league through homer glasses.

A lot of these guys dont watch football games outside of panther games. Hell bent is a strong word.. I just like healthy comp.  a guy catching 51 catches as a rookie and threw a touchdown pass and is a punt returner cant make a roster that up until last year was among the worst? Jags Have been investing more picks into the wr pool, and someone has 2 get thrown in the doghouse. Steven Hill was cut by the jets and is fighting for a spot why not someone who has had some kind  success as a rookie?

Why does a guy have to be the final piece? Why can't he just compete for a wr spot on a team that's not overflowing with Wr option? No one is saying he is a star but if bersin has a shot at the roster don't see why someone who has made a bigger impact in the NFL doesn't. All About putting the bringing the best 90 guys to camp and finding out who can play. Being from carolina i would think the connections would be there so why not look?

"Look" and "sign" are two very different things.

The front office will look at every single player that comes available,  but they'll only sign the ones they believe can contribute.

You don't sign a guy to see whether he's any good. You sign him because you already believe he can be.

And given their track record so far, I'm pretty comfortable with who they sign...and who they don't.

Unclaimed...

Usually when a guy is drafted at a certain level and is on a cheap rookie contract, someone will take a chance on him.

No one took that chance on Ace Sanders Monday.

The fact no one elected to claim his contract (at the league minimums the next two years) at a time when you can carry 90 players on the roster might not be the best sign for his future employment.

Ace Sanders goes unclaimed on waivers

Just means no one wanted to pay out the rest of his rookie contract. i dout he doesn't go into the season on someones roster.

A rookie contract...for a fourth round pick...

In NFL terms, that's chump change.

And nobody wanted to pay that...

But this is the huddle and everyone wants to be a smartass....go figure...

Strange how in order to be a smartass, ya gotta be smart before you're an ass. :3

Seeing how NOBODY wanted this dude in the NFL, that makes 32 smart asses in the NFL? :D

You mean like Kerry Colbert? He had 49 receptions his rookie year and then disappear just like this guy.
