I've got two possible scenarios:

• They had a ton of deals with manufacturers for a whole bunch of products, but due to some contractual dispute, they pulled their products at the last minute except for one or two really good deals, like the TVs and the Go Pro, and Amazon had to scramble to get anything to offer for their much hyped Prime Day. Or;
• They knew exactly what they were doing, this was an epic troll job, and now amazon is trending on every social media outlet. A "no such thing as bad press" scenario.

it's definitely #2 I think.  Today the Fire Sticks are back in stock, for instance.  You don't have a  PRIME DAY and not have a ton of your OWN product there.

Yep...  It was all hype...  They sold out of Fire Sticks (PS: I got one ^_^) and Echo's (I already had one) within seconds...  And at 3 a.m. today they has Echos and Fire Stick back in stock...  Same goes for almost everything else...  They offered such a limited numbers just to attract people.  I was able to buy my Biometric gun safe for $200 and it usually cost around $280 (PS: Ordered yesterday at noon and it was delivered today!!!) and after I purchased it, it was sold out as well...  Honestly... How many people would go crazy over Biometric safe the same minute?
