do the Saints really deserve freedom of speech and display? :/

football allegiances aside, of course they do. this sh!t has gone wayyyyy too far. but dont listen to me. what do i know compared to the elitists in the NAACP and all levels of government? obviously they have our best interests at heart, what with silencing all dissent and rewriting history and all. we've never seen this happen before ever... said every Jew in Germany circa 1935.

seriously... when do we stop trying to not offend people? Offense is part of life. only children demand change when they are offended. adults face the offense and love anyway.

Oh boy, an article from TheBlaze.

Let me guess, it's a rant about double standards, with a poor comparison, and how next we'll be getting rid of all symbols from the past?

can i ask where you get your information from? i take in a whole spectrum of media from the huffington post and npr to TheBlaze and Fox News. your snide remark about TheBlaze obviously implies your perspective on politics, and i can surmise where you mainly get your information from.

for the record, there was no discussion of double standards or comparisons in the article. but i think the article itself goes to show how our country is certainly moving to get rid of all symbols from the past that someone finds offensive. your talking points response has no substance, nor basis.

no reasonable number of people equate the saints logo with a palpable, directly-related racial past to make any kind of a case for getting rid of it. the slippery slope argument is silly.

really? thats why liberals have been calling for the removal of the American flag for years, right? thats why they burn the Flag at any opportunity?

im glad we can drink, party, and celebrate our Panthers together PhillyB. youre a cool guy but i dont think we agree on much else. haha ;)

if ur offended by this:

and not offended by this:

ur whats wrong with America!!!!! like if u agree comment if ur al sharpton

these were from a quick google search. if im correct, both CampusReform and the Washington Times are left-of-center outlets. i tried to avoid personal blogs for integrity's sake. i could continue to peruse Google for stories that im sure date back years. but i dont have time at the moment.

the fact of the matter is that there have been people burning the American flag and calling it a divisive, racist, or otherwise offensive symbol for years. thats why there's even a conversation about the right to desecrate it. people hate the slippery slope argument and call it a fallacy. unfortunately, considering human nature... its normally fairly accurate.

you've found a few people, yes, but is there any real kind of consensus by a statistically significant margin? absolutely not. "liberals" are not burning the flag "every chance they get," and if you think they are (in any significant numbers) then it's time to log off the blaze.

the slippery slope fallacy has nothing to do with human nature. the slippery slope fallacy is invoked when someone makes the argument that X will invariably lead to Y (or even - GASP! - Z!!!!) if X is enacted, but fail to demonstrate a causal relationship between X, Y, and Z. in this case, X is the redskins team name, and Y and Z are the saints logo (and - GASP - anyone who's offended by the mcdonalds logo and wants IT taken down!) and it's a logical fallacy of the slippery slope variety to say X will lead to Y or Z because there's no demonstrable parallel between X and Y/Z based on the parameters used to define X.

or, in real terms, the logic, history, contemporary meaning, precedent, and support behind removing the redskins team name simply does not exist for the saints logo. so it's a logical fallacy to argue that changing the redskins team name will invariably lead to changing whatever else is suddenly offensive. and, frankly, it's ridiculous.

    • Nah I wanna see these NFL evaluators talking about his prospects at WR aren't good because I would LOVE to see thier explanations
    • You do realize that raw stats don't make someone a better or worse player, right? To begin with, the last time I checked, 1,319 is more yards than 1,258, so T-Mac had more yards (but I'll forgive you as a typo there and say you meant catches lol), but that's before even factoring in that Hunter did his in 13 games vs 12 for T-Mac because Arizona didn't make a bowl game. It's also completely ignoring the team around each player.  If you think Hunter having the 8th place finisher in the Heisman voting at QB isn't going to result in helping his top WRs stats, then you're sticking your head in the sand to purposefully not see it. Hunter's QB had 353 completions for 4,134 yards and 37 TDs vs T-Mac's QB who had 260 completions for 2,958 yards and 18 TDs. But sure, let's rank NFL prospects by their stats and say the guy with more catches and TDs is the better prospect.  So on that note, I now change my mind, T-Mac is no longer the best WR in the draft, it's Nick Nash who had 104 rec, 1,382 yards, and 16 TDs, all numbers better than Hunter's... because that's how this is done, right? As I've said before, if someone wants to like a player better than someone else that's totally fair, but come with real reasons, talk about their play, but to talk about things like stats as your reasoning, when you ignore the obvious and massive flaws in using those stats in that way, just makes you look dumb.
    • Nah you don't go out and put up the numbers he did without being able to run routes dude is a football junky so he works on his craft he isn’t THAT much more athletic than other players to just be able to go out and do whatever and succeed at that level
