So who really is the best player in the league?

Mr. Scot

I don't understand why people keep saying that? Is it because he is white? Lol. Dude is flat out the most dominant defensive player in recent memory and does stuff no one dreams of doing,

Not sure why folks keep saying that, other than the fact that the Texans don't make the playoffs, but that isn't Watt's issue, it's a QB issue.

Watt is the best player I have seen in a very long time.  There are just guys who are so much better than anyone else out there.  Like Peyton, LT, LT, Rice, Montana, White....etc....

Best players in the NFL right now:

Watt

Rodgers

Revis

Luke

Gronk

Thomas

Rodgers is the most important, but not the best.

There are actually only a couple of people who "keep saying that" and they're not especially bright.

3. Aaron Rodgers

2. Calvin Johnson

1. JJ Watt

(I didn't read the other posts, and I did not watch the stupid countdown because it is a meaningless competition designed to keep fans watching when there is nothing to watch--but I am aware Watt won and I agree with it.

yep that's right nobody would know or care about a 3-4 DE who put up 20.5 sacks and 5 total touchdowns in 2014 without a media hype campaign propping him up

Has nothing to do with race. I think Luke is a much better all around player and I would much rather have him than Watt. Watt is very good. Very good. But if you watched the Texans last year he feasted against poo teams with bad O lines. Had the Texans played us he probably would have broken the single game record. He reminds me of an NBA player on a terrible team that averages 20 ppg and gets selected to all star games but never wins anything.

Watt is a very good player, and racking up sacks is certainly impressive, but how many of those resulted in points scored? Putting points on the board is ultimately all that matters if your goal is to win, which it obviously should be. At the end of the day, it's always going to boil down to your playmaker making that one play that completely changes the momentum in the game.

It doesn't have to be a quarterback either. Guys like Richard Sherman, and Calvin Johnson are legitimate candidates.

At this point, you would honestly have to put Marshawn Lynch into the conversation as well. The Seahawks were nearly back to back Super Bowl champions, yes their defense is very good, but where would the team have been without the elite level offensive production from Lynch?

In the last 3 seasons, Lynch has amassed 5,912 total yards, and 51 total touchdowns. With 896 of those yards, and 8 of those touchdowns being in the postseason.

The above also puts into further perspective the idea of making Russell Wilson the highest paid player in the NFL.

Its a QB league, 32 GMs out of 32 would agree.

A-rod is the best QB, thus best player. Best fantasy QB too, but I can see the case for luck too! Easy.

Watt is the best defensive player by far. I love me some Luke, but DE/3-4OLB have more value.

Brady does have the best results, but he's old compared the A-rod. Plus he has the best coach bill, love or hate he's the best of all time. He went 11-5 with matt cassel, after got IR middle during the first game.
