I feel your pain my central unit went out took 4 days for a repair man to show up, I bought 2 of the largest widow units they have at Lowes and survived. I have English Bulldogs they cant take the heat it will kill them so I had to do that or move my dads RV into my driveway.

Why not take the RV and drive to northern Canada?

Just two Saturdays ago we noticed (after coming in after 7 hours of miserable outside work) that our air wasn't cooling very much. We keep the thermostat on 69 during the day and 67 at night, but it wouldn't drop below 74.

We went to bed hoping the humidity and outside temp would cool and the house would start cooling. My wife got up at 2 AM and it was 75, so she turned off the thermostat. I woke up at 3 AM and it was 79, and the vents inside were still blowing. I went to the outside breaker for the furnace/heat pump and turned it off. The fan stopped blowing.

We never really went back to sleep, and I was up at the crack of dawn Sunday morning disassembling my compressor unit to clean the coils and check things out. It was like 98% humidity and upper 70's at 5:30 AM, and I'm out there in the mud that I have created by cleaning the coils, in long pants, almost about to die trying to get the damn thing back together.

I couldn't find a problem with the compressor unit, but did notice that, once I turned the power on to the furnace, that the furnace blower fan started running (it is located under my house.) I went under there (thankfully I can stand up in that area of our crawlspace) and removed the access panel. I immediately noticed an electrical burn smell. I once again cut the power to the furnace completely, and cutoff the service breaker to the compressor to ensure that nothing would run.

I assumed that I was low on coolant, and that I might have a burned out fan board in the furnace. I went ahead and called around for service people, and finally got a guy to come out on Sunday afternoon.

Turns out it WAS our fan board in the furnace that had gone bad, causing it to run constantly and making it work against the cooling system. He happened to have exactly 1 of those boards on his truck. We only needed 3/4 lb of coolant in the system. I had the guy check our upstairs compressor unit for freon while he was there (since they sit side by side,) and it turns out that unit had a bad capacitor. He happened to have exactly one of those on his truck as well! LOL.  We were up and running by 1:30 Sunday afternoon.

TLDR: Having your AC go out sucks. Mine recently needed a fix but now we're chilling at around 69 degrees 24/7. Good luck.

If my AC went out in this heat I would be in a hotel for sure.  My heat stopped working this winter on the coldest day of the year.  I think it got down to like 12 degrees.  I just slept in the living room on the couch and kept a fire going all night.  It was like I was camping in my own house.

poo, it's hotter in NC than South Florida.  As I type this at 7:58 the heat index in Wilmywood is 94 and it's 86 in Miami.

It's been brutal this year.

I was in Florida last all last week and it was blazing. 94-97 everyday.  And when it rained it was miserable with the humidity.  But I was able to withstand it to get a pic with Mickey and stand in line for about 20 hours so my daughter could ride the rides.  Oh and I got a sweet Dumbledore (Elder) Wand!

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
