1st ^^^ is an idiot, if he thinks a pass catching TE from Baltimore was brought in to block. He was brought in to be the 2nd receiving TE any Panther fan is aware of that.

Article after leaving Baltimore-

Combine Report (Strengths as a pass catcher, weakness as a run blocker)-

Jesus the dumb must be strong with this one. Obviously you're not a very bright guy if you interpreted any of what I wrote as my thoughts. The funniest is when you link articles talking about him being a weak blocker but nothing to directly refute what I'm reporting from the coaches.

That's why I usually don't like going back and forth on here. Too much dumb.

I mean if you are just including WRs it breaks down as

J.Jones >>> M.Evans > K.Benjamin > V.Jackson > R.White > M.Colston > B.Cooks

Throw in the TEs and you get

J.Jones >>> M.Evans > G.Olsen > K.Benjamin > V.Jackson > etc

you're underrating Vincent Jackson. Dude has consistently posted 1,000yd seasons over the last 4 years with three of those on the QB-less Bucs. Greg just got his first 1,000y season and he's better than VJax? VJax is better than KB and Greg.

He has been pretty awesome, but, going into the 2015 season, I would rather have a in his prime Greg or a young physical freak in KB.

I provide information and links, you provide .... oh , yeah crickets, keep it moving.

Oh and for coach commentary -

http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Notes-Opportunity-knocks-for-Dickson/a30e0972-dd7d-4df0-87bf-0d203286ce53

OC Mike Shula on Dickson post Mike Tolbert injury-

"Ed has been even better at the end of the year in regard to doing more things for us," offensive coordinator Mike Shula said. "We've been able to put him in more positions that maybe we didn't do earlier in the year. Thus, he's on the field more. When that happens, you are going to get more opportunities."

Ed Dickson on the Tolbert injury, & playing time/opportunities-

"I understand the bigger picture," explained Dickson, who made 10 starts this season when the Panthers opened with two tight ends. "This whole season 88 (tight end  Greg Olsenicon-article-link.gif ) has been balling out. And we had two fullbacks go down. They needed me to play that position and I'll play the position – it doesn't matter.

Dickson on playing time & opportunities once a healthy Tolbert returned-

"We got (fullback  Mike Tolberticon-article-link.gif ) healthy again, and I started to become a factor in the passing game."

If you need more commentary I'll dig it up, I don't arbitrarily spout off at the mouth on topics without having a clue, you now have quotes from the OC, and the player himself noting that his passing game involvement was limited due to the starting fullback, and 2nd stringer in Brockel. Funny how his passing game involvement took off once Tolbert returned to playing fullback...so much dumb in this post, smh get a clue kid.

or because Cam called his own plays. I was listening to Aaron Rodgers say no QB calls their own plays, not him or Peyton so I think we can put that myth to rest.

I am telling you what the coaches said unless you are the one who brought him in. It's ok to admit you don't know.

Your wrong and he is right. Just deal with it....

Again, you've doubled down on the dumb. I said he was BROUGHT in to block. How does that have a bearing on how things ended up at the end of the season? Are you really that thick headed? Jeez some of you are really that simple.

First guy: coach said he was brought in to block.

Second guy: you're an idiot because you think that

first guy: how can you disprove what I said

second guy: he was catching passes at the end of the season derp so that shows he wasn't brought in to block.

I'm trying to break it down so that setfreexx might have his brain set free from his ass.

Keep it moving, it's obvious you have nothing to support that HE WAS BROUGHT IN TO BLOCK so you have no legs to stand on, which is why you have no quotes, or links to back it up. People come here for intelligent football discussion people like you, well I don't know why you're here or post since you offer nothing.

The coach and player acknowledged why he wasn't involved early in the season in the passing game. But if you truly believe Ed Dickson, a TE NEVER KNOWN for his blocking skills was brought in to block then more power to you, and less power to our staff for not having a clue (sarcasm).

Now you're beating a hasty retreat? Next time don't respond like a dumb ass and start calling people idiots when you're making non sequiturs.

When I get home from work I'll remember to post that video from panthers.com.

Only a dumb ass would post with no reference.

Here goes;

Panthers' Max Henson did a mailbag video on Ed Dickson and it so happened that the Pete Hoener, the TE coach watched the episode. Like those in this thread and me before I watched the video, he also thought that Ed was supposed to be doing something else. Well the coach told him specifically that that was not Ed's role on the team, his role was the full back hybrid role.

He also said the coach told him that people think Ed was pushed there due to injuries but that was also inaccurate and that his role was to do as stated above. He also said Ed "caught on" because the ball started coming his way and not that his role was expanded.

So Setfreexx, next time don't be a tool and start insulting people when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Dunce!

For those that want to listen, you can hear them talk about it at 17:15 (and yes I watch panthers pulse videos)

I think Tampa has the best 1-2 given Roddy's last years performance. We are third until some games are played, otherwise it's just speculation. We easily have the best TE but not sure that ties into the discussion.

TE was part of the original discussion and ranking on the show

The narrative was 'why was he was brought to the team', which is what the comments were related to. Now if you want to discuss his role moving forward you should've clarified that because this video is from THIS off-season.

We were discussing his original role, but Ed is NOT going to be the starting fullback, he is the second tight end, but he will see some H-Back opportunities, based on this video.
