Panthers WILL beat the Eagles

I'm gonna go ahead and put my neck out there right now. With the Eagles defense losing there middle linebacker for the year and with the loss of there secondary leader(Brian Dawkins) i see Jake and Steve having big days. Also the Eagles run defense will get exposed by Deangelo! I'm holding out hope that the Panthers D will get these tackling issues straight for week 1. Fox will have these guys doing tackling drills all week and you will see a better tackling team then what we've been seeing. I predict we beat the Eagles 28-17. What's everyones thoughts?

OP-I really hope you are right. I won't be surprised if they lose. If they keep it competitive and look strong in that game on all sides, I will be pretty pleased actually though losing always stinks.

I think Fox lightens up on TC practices more every year in an attempt to get the team off to faster starts but IMO that hasn't really translated yet. That's definitely seemed to be an issue for this team overall (besides 2008).

It's not our offense every one is worried about Dan, it's the defense. How times have change when we are talking about the strength of the team not being on the defensive side of the ball. I'm holding out hope that the new guy, Louis Leonard, will be at least stating material and our secondary can start to cover/tackle better than they have in the preseason. At the very least I hope everyone is back healthy ready to play versus Philly.

I can actually see this game in a offensive shootout with the Eagles. I'm not sure who will win, but I can say both teams will score 30+ points each. Looking forward to the tailgate, by the way.

it's going to be a high scoring game, imo. two pretty high powered offenses going against struggling defenses. lot of points and yardage will be given up on both teams.

eagles oline is in pretty bad shape right now. that may be the thing that makes the difference. if our dline can take advantage of it we could come out on top.

Tackling is the main issue. The Eagles offense can get their yards and this Meeks defense will probably give up 300+ yards per game this year. The key will be to limit big plays, esp the screen vs the Eagles and hold them to field goals instead of TDs.

On offense, we cannot settle for punts and field goals. We are going to have to put up at least 3 TDs to have a chance. Eagles D is less potent this year than in years past, but if they can get to Jake with pressure and cause him to hesitate or tip a ball at the line, it could be a big problem. Protections from the TEs and the RBs will be key in giving Jake time to throw.

I don't know if its going out on a limb, but as long as our guys hold onto the ball (Deangelo does pretty well) we have a really good shot at winning this game. The matchups seem to be good for us vs their back 7 on D. On offense, I am inclined to buy into the idea that Fox and Davidson were really pulling back on the reigns during the preseason.

Still, if we don't execute on 3rd down (huge area of concern!!!) it could be a long day for the home team.

I'm not going to predict a score. But I def. think both teams will be in the mid-high 20's, with the winner being the team that has the ball with 2 mins left. I give us the edge at home (look at last year's track record).

With the game on the line in the 4th Q, I'd honestly rather have Jake than McNabb.

If the defense comes to play we will win, its that simple. If McNabb has all day in the pocket to throw we will get eaten up. We are terrible at tackling running backs in space and Westbrook getting passes out of the backfield is a recipe for disaster. TD is going to have to spy him all day or we wont have a chance. Luckily their WR's dont strike fear in the hearts of anyone, but Desean Jackson has speed and will likely have to be covered by Gamble the whole day. TE passes over the middle will hurt us as usual since forever..

As for the Offense, RUN RUN RUN! Keep that offense off the field and limit there chances. Samuel on Smith will be fun to watch and i expect a big game out of Moose..But if we are going to win Deangelo has to be a monster. They are a better team than us, but we are at home and we can sneak this one out. They also start the season shaky usually and week 1 is a crapshoot as is... I'll be flying down Friday and in Stadium Sunday and i hope to be flying back to NJ with a win..

    • Film Room Playlist _ NFL Pro — Mozilla Firefox 2024-11-25 10-20-11.mp4 🎯🎯🎯 There were a couple of "fans" yesterday saying that this wasn't a helmet-to-helmet shot... 👀 Looks like based on where Moore was and where the play ended, he'd have gotten maybe just a yard or two more. Chuba was downed at the KC 16 and Moore was on his way back to the QB, so the offense got what they could for the most part. After reviewing the all-22, Bryce made the right call here. Tremble was the hot and KC sent both LBs. He gets it out with a clear pocket but it's quickly collapsing. If there was a little more time it looked like AT came free at the end but whether or not Bryce would've been upright still is another story. Smart move to get the completion and keep the field goal in play to stay alive. George Karlaftis is about to get himself a big ole hug and Bryce heaves it to where David Moore is going. Trent McDuffie slipped just a step or two before this shot, but we can see the clear DPI here as he's wrapped around David Moore before knocking him over as the ball gets there.
    • I’m taking a TE early day 3 Ian Thomas and Tremble are FA.  We should have no desire to bring them back.   There’s more than enough film of ball bouncing off their hands or facemask.
    • Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games.  last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down.  We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
