Who will be this year's surprise player?

Last year in training camp, it was Andrew Norwell. Norwell showed early flashes, like below man handling Kony Ealy in one on one drills.

Most of the media saw it as Ealy coming along too slowly. Turns out it was just Norwell being.. well,.. Norwell.

Who is your pick for surprise player of 2015? A guy not predicted to make the team but steps in and makes a major contribution.

if byrd turns out to be a punt or kick returning phenom it could really shake things up at several roster positions.

I am really trying to temper my enthusiasm over that kid until the pads are on and he takes a hit. Huge potential there, just worry a bit about his frame at this level.

I'll go with Kurt Coleman. He's expected to make the roster, but many have already penciled in Harper as the starter. Also I think Big Frank will have a breakout year and help us forget Hardy, but I don't think that would be a huge surprise to many. We all know he has the talent, just has to stay on the field.

I say Funchess. I know he is a second round guy so maybe doesn't count as "surprise", but from a national perception point of view it seems a lot of people thought he would be a slow tight end with bad hands. If he can have a season similar to Kelvin's rookie season then I'd say that would be a pleasant surprise.

I really, really think people are going to enjoy Artis-Payne. Maybe not right off of the bat, but I could see him breaking out in December..

With that being said though I really like Fozzy too. So it's tough for me to pick between the two for the backup spot

    • Your thoughts? I don't think the trade up or even down value system stays exactly in place this year. Look at all the bad trades that hurt teams that give away too much (49ers for Lance, even us w/the Bears set us back). What trade up except Mahomes/KC was it really a great trade for the team giving up a lot? Same with trading down. Teams will know you don't want to pick and they won't be giving the store to move up because there is not a generational talent to do that for. Now, I believe these possibilities.  The Giants probably won't take QB-Sanders at 3, it's too much pressure if it doesn't work. They don't really need another edge rusher with Carter. I can see them possibly saving face, trade down to even the Panthers at 8 but not asking for a kings ransom. A 1st round swap, a 3rd and 4th and maybe next years 2nd and 4th could be enough without giving up too much. The Giants save in pay and in public opinion and then they can take Sanders or even another QB. For the Panthers to drop down, it has to mean their top 3 picks are not there. Do they take TE-Warren if he drops in their lap at 8 (I do like that)? I believe they would love to drop back but again I don't think teams will pay a lot to move up unless they want a QB before the Saints (our only hope for a good value).  I'm not picking a player, just thinking of the draft in general and value. Reaching doesn't work and more and more teams are realizing that.
    • With the new DL, we should be better at edge by simple addition.   What player would have the biggest impact on the Panthers?  I still see the plan to trade back and take Emmanwori if we can find a trade partner.  Why, you ask?  S is a huge need and they have really only looked at 1 visits/meetings.  We will try to trade up for Princely in the second.  A WR in the third  (Bech or Noel).
