Caight on video punching a woman in the face...

Seminoles dismiss QB De'Andre Johnson after video of altercation surfaces

The video, which was captured by security cameras in a bar near the FSU campus, shows Johnson trying to push past the woman, who was waiting to order at the bar. The woman turned toward Johnson, who grabbed her right arm after she raised it in a fist. The woman raised her knee and swung at Johnson with her left arm, and then he punched her in the face.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department incident report, the woman, an FSU student, suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.

State's attorney Willie Meggs, who decided to charge Johnson after seeing video of the incident, said the woman still had a black eye when he met with her last week.

He did use disproportionate force but why would the girl kick and punch him? In my college anyone caught for fighting on campus was dismissed but this is off campus. Let the law handle them both.

Ray Rice is without a job and Hope Solo just won herself a world championship. The double standard must stop.

That's garbage. Hope Solo fought a 280lb man and these girls got beat by men much arger that them. A warrior spirit says she prevailed while under matched and the others took evolutionary advantage. That doesn't make her less of a crazy bitch however the other guys were taking advantage of every physical advantage avaluable.

She, while maybe crazy was at a disadvantage.

Not saying that she deserved what she got, but can we please teach our daughters that it's simply not smart to raise your fist to a man that you don't know, or try to knee that man in the groin? Not every man has impulse control, and you can't assume that they one that you try to punch won't get mad and punch you back. Just don't do that ladies.

We need to teach our son's to just walk away from those type situations too, but we need to teach our daughters to avoid them as well.

How heavy was her nephew?

Her nephew was 280lbs. So that puts her in the right? I'm getting confused here. She came there drunk and started tearing poo up.

That's what I feel. The whole story has been reported as FSU QB punches woman meanwhile it was started by the girl. It does not only go for girls. I am not swinging at a guy bigger than me.

oh so now he was 280 lbs? Yeah hope solo vs a 280 lb man has difficulty getting sympathy. I'm not one for lambasting idealistically.

Are you seriously saying it's ok to punch a girl half your size because she provoked you?

I get what some people on here are trying to say about double standards, but I don't think it applies here. The dude put his hands on her first. He could have walked away. Now, if the dude was just sitting there and some girl just comes and starts wailing on him, then yeah, expect to get knocked out.

Why? Because he did not beat her up? Is that what you are saying? That as long as the victim is bigger than the aggressor it's not a biggie? He showed incredible restraint with Solo but it does not make what she did any better.

    • Starting to see more prospect discussion and figured to drop in a few lines: DRAFT POSITION The short: We currently stand at #5 and I think this is about where we land.  We are 1 game separated from 1OA (currently JAX) all the way back to pick 11 (currently CHI). https://www.tankathon.com/nfl My Reasoning:   JAX is simply a wildcard - I think their remaining schedule is all winnable, but it's a faltering situation. NYG could very well lose out, tough schedule, terrible team.  They would still be ahead even if we lose out and they win 1 remaining.  They seem like the highly likely Cam Ward destination/Can't see Deion supporting his long time nemesis.     NE is playing AZ, BUF (twice) and LAC to close out the year.  If we both lose out, they're still ahead of us.  Hunter is an easy pick here.   LVR have some winnable games, also play JAX week 16.  You never know what Raiders team you're getting weekly, but Shedeur makes too much sense for them - question is - where do they land?   CLE has a BRUTAL stretch coming up and could easily lose out, moving ahead of us.     With this in mind, I think highest pick here for us is #3 unless Drake Maye or Drew Lock pull off some stunners.  Lowest pick is in that #10/11 range.  If we get just 1+ win (which seems likely), I think we end up at #5.  So, okay, there's my reasoning.     MINI-BIG BOARD And now the big board talent - more/less consensus from what I'm seeing (minus QBs who's value pushes them up): 1. Travis Hunter DB/WR Colorado 2. Will Johnson DB Michigan 3. Tetairoa McMillan WR Arizona 4. Ashton Jeanty RB Boise State (talent is this high, but doubt he goes top-5 in the current climate) After this...it's really hard to sort bc they all start to have warts, the EDGE talent is not good, but names you'll see: Shedeur Sanders QB Colorado Cam Ward QB Miami Mason Graham DT Michigan Malaki Starks DB UGA Abdul Carter OLB PSU   - Where we benefit: Ward & Shedeur will be going to QB needy spots and early. This brings Hunter, McMillan, & Johnson into contention.  With that being said, as mentioned, New England seems a likely landing spot for Travis Hunter.  So long story short: Johnson DB v. McMillan WR v. Graham DT is the debate I foresee having as things escalate.  The EDGE class is simply not worthy in the top-5 (I need a hard sell on those guys) and don't really see the value elsewhere unless we really like Starks.   Many are already talking McMillan and I think it makes a lot of sense. Seems like a situation where staying in that top-5 helps. So maybe yesterday was a blessing in disguise.   If we drop much further, there may be a prospect commonly ranked in the 20s right now that rises into consideration with how this draft class is muddled.  That top-4 is clear and it's just a big field of late 1st/early 2nd rounders IMO.  Put Bowers, heck Amarius Mims in this draft class, they're both going top-5.
    • Nobody could have succeeded last year, it was an awful offensive roster with even worse coaching I've been screaming that for a year. Watch some of the film of last year playcalling vs this years, it's an insane difference.  but to directly answer your question, I think last year not only slowed Bryce's improvement but made him regress. My opinion is he was worse this year Game 1 at Saints than he would have been if he just took a year off in 2023 from football. The last staff absolutely ruined him. I wrote him off, said after the first play of the Saint's game when he threw the int he was done and no coming back. Sitting seemed to have let him get back to being the dude he was coming out of Alabama, and what we are seeing now I believe is what the 1st overall pick looks like 5 games into their rookie year.
    • It's impossible to tell without being in the building but the biggest thing for me is confidence in himself, which happened once he finally had confidence in the offensive line which for some reason didn't happen until after his benching. Him being benched was his first football failure of his football life, he's been successful at every level since high school on incredibly talented teams. Biggest difference I've seen with him is staying in the pocket and also keeping his eyes up. He's legitimately eating big hits on the chin like a pro and still delivering darts. He's suddenly unshakeable it's great to see. I thought he always flashed some good throws with some anticipation so that's been there, with his confidence back his accuracy also returned to form. He still has to work on balls to the boundary but those are notoriously difficult.  tl;dr: confidence.
