Lillard staying with Portland, deal around 5 years, 120+ million

Curry, Westbrook, CP3, Wall, Irving (when healthy) there's 5 off the top of my head I take over Lillard.  Lillard is an average defender at best.  Anthony Davis is an insane talent you can build a championship team around.  Lillard isn't but he's getting paid like one.  Lillard can be the best player on a team that wins a series or two but he's a second option on a true championship team.  He was terrible in the playoffs this past season.  He's peaked he's not gonna be any better than what he is now.  He's legit on offense but average at best on defense.  Also you're logic saying you'd rather pay him 24mil than Kemba/Marv 20 mil is dumb.  This is Marv's last year on the team and we can play this game all day cause I'd rather pay Knight/Bledsoe 5/140 than Lillard 5/120.  Basically Portlant is in a situation where they have to somehow build a championship team around Lillard.  And aside of this past year, when is the last time a team won the championship with the PG as their clear best player?

Remember.... they didn't even get CLOSE to winning a championship when he was on his rookie deal making like 5 million per year.  Sure as hell won't be getting any closer now that he's making 25 million per year

To play devil's advocate...you do realize that Kemba was taking over games before his injury right? 

People tend to forget how dominant he was pre injury and focus on rusty Kemba at the end of the year.

Agreed and I'm far from a Kemba stan.  Kemba will be a just fine PG and can take you far if you have the right guys around him.  I'm extremely wary these days of trying to make a PG the focal point of your team.

the only two I'd take over Lillard are Curry and Westbrook. Lillard and Wall are neck and neck. Lillard is a much better PG than Irving, and CP3 hasn't done anything in the Playoffs. 

 

Kemba's defense ain't much at all but no one here is complaining. I wonder why. Mo Williams should be the starting point. 

 

Lillard earned every bit of that money. And when you're a small market like Portland, they are going to have to overpay a bit more. 

Im im not going to worry about Lillard and Portland. I'm concentrating on this team.

lmaooooo at saying lillard is better than cp3.  people don't realize cp3 is maybe the best pg ever, dude is the best in the league still.  you're fuging delusional if you think Lillard is better than CP3.  CP3 is better at just about everything.  Kyrie and Lillard is pretty close, but when Kyrie is healthy I give him the edge.  Kyrie scored more last year, turned it over less and had a higher TS%.  plus he's definitely the better defender.

I recall William Moore not being a fan of PM after the conference finals so I'll be interested to see what he says if he wanders over here.

The trade was great until we brought Millsap back. 

Since Carrol left and the Magic were pushing hard for Sap, I wanted a sign/trade Millsap for Harris.

That way, we have a ton more size. Especially with bringing the 7'3, 7'9 wingspan Walter Tavares from overseas.

With CLE as the main contender in the east, with Millsap we have no way to consistently fight their size.

Is much better than what we're going with now., and since Millsap is back we now have a log jam. Horford, Splitter, and Sap are all worthy of big minutes. Not a fan of this offseason so far, especially getting rid of Kelly Oubre when we knew it was likely for DeMarre to leave. 

 

If we try and play Paul at SF, I will become an alcoholic.

Hell no. Irving is NOT better than Lillard. He's inconsistent as hell. Prior to LeBron coming to Cleveland, he was an underachiever and the franchise was hesitant to give him a long term contract.

Lillard is one of the worst chuckers in the league and is a consistent chair on defense. Irving is atleast efficient. 

Please don't tell me a few here really think Lillard is a top 10 PG?

And yet Lillard is the superior passer, dribbler, rebounder, distributor, and athlete, and is clutch when it matters. His defensive game needs work but there is no considerable gap between them.

You'd have to be an idiot to think Lillard isn't a Top 10 PG.

He is nowhere near the dribbler or athlete Irving is.

That's 8 for sure, and others can be argued such as Bledsoe, Lowry, Teague,  Hill, etc.

 

He's a good scorer, but that's pretty much it. Even as a scorer, he is terribly inefficient. Not that good at all, one of the more undeservedly hyped players in the last few years imo. I don't know how in the hell you can take him over a player the level of Wall or CP3.

Lillard is a top 10 PG easily and borderline top 5.  The problem is he's getting paid like one of the 5 best players in the league and he's nowhere close.  He didn't even get close to a championship on his rookie deal, won't be getting any closer now that he's getting paid like x5 more money.

Also don't tell me Kyrie isn't clutch
