Biz is a free agent

Recommended Posts

He's not over-rated when he's one of the best rim protectors in the league and a great rebounder.  We're going to be so soft next year.  A bunch of guys getting pushed around.  Al gets hurt 20 games in, Cody disappears for games at a time, Frank probably sits on the bench because Clifford hates rookies, and Hawes has too much on his back.  Marvin will be Marvin.   NONE of those guys play defense, Biz did.  Biz actually put forth 100% even on bad teams, never whined, and did what he needed.  He brought an attitude to an otherwise soft team.

Bad move, but not surprised, par for the course.  I can't wait to see the black hole, Jefferson, out there with Zeller/Frank getting abused, it's going to be hilarious (not really).

I despised the pick when it was made.   I did not want Biz.   But once we drafted him, I figured let him develop and see what we have.  He is among the elite rim protectors in the league.  People can say what they want about his struggles on offense, but even with those, his plus/minus as the starter while Al was out was ridiculously higher than Al's last season.  This is why I want Al gone...   If you think we're building this offensive juggernaut that will outscore every opponent, then you aren't very smart.  It takes 20 fuging minutes for Al to make it up court every possession, and that's after he let's his man score like he isn't even guarding him (because he's not).

BBut oh well,  I'm used to it by now.   And since Cho doesn't understand drafting or how to retain players worth retaining,  we may as well package our draft picks for the next 20 years to OKC for KD.  We don't need them...   He'll either draft the wrong guy AGAIN, or just let him walk once his contract is up,  so what does it matter.  poo is a joke.  Can't wait to see our hamster wheel philosophy on the court next season and get pissed off all over again when Al scores 33 on 25 shots while his man scores 35 on 15.

And for those of you thinking he may still be brought back on a cheaper deal...   NOPE.   Look at Biz's tweets.  He's not coming back, and that was made clear to him.

I'm implore you to go look at those plus/minuses from last season...   Combined with actually watching Al suck ass defensively night after night, looking at them and realizing he makes our team WORSE despite his offense (which I'm still not a fan of), it's what finally convinced me he has to go.

His negatives far outweighed the positives, for me at least.  He couldn't catch, or shoot, or dribble, or pass...in turn, limiting an already limited offense.

Sucks to lose the defense/rebounding...but it looks like they're not planning on doing those things anyway.

Skal Labissiere, come on down.

Biz kinda sucked guys.  He could barely catch a basketball.

Idk how people can literally ignore this fact. His defense was solid but he made it to where the other team could double any of our other four guys on offense because Biz turned games into 5-on-4 when we had the ball.

Put him in the right role and he could excel.  He's a ~15-18 minute rim protector.  This is the type of sh*t I don't wanna see in this forum.  Sorry Teeray, I never take jabs as long as I've been here but that's a f*cking stupid one-dimensional post.  Admittedly, similar to Biz's game, but if we don't know how to capitalize off his strengths with the right pieces, then we don't deserve him. Now I'm not saying he's good on offense or anything but that doesn't take away his ability to mesh with the exact 4-5 types we're bringing in.  Makes no f'n sense in my honest opinion.  I want basketball talk in this forum.  Tired of seeing this one-liner bs.

If Biz sucks then so does Kobe, Harden, Curry, Irving, as well as older guys such as Allen Iverson, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, etc. Because all of those guys are/were 1 way players. And while offense gets more attention, defense is what wins games. There are two ends to a basketball court. Biz is elite defensively. Not good or average, he's great. Statistically he has been the best rim protector in the NBA for 2 straight seasons. A team has NEVER finished outside of the top 6 in team defense & won the title. Letting him walk is the stupidest decision this franchise has made in a very long time. He's gonna get picked up by a team that will actually play him & he's gonna put up a 10 pt 15 reb 4 blk season. Kemba/Batum/MKG/Kaminsky/Biz would've been the best lineup we've had since the 90s. Too bad Clifford & Cho would rather roll with Hawes & Jefferson.

Between this and the Vonleh trade reaction you would have thought we were on the cusp of a championship with those two and not coming off a 33-49 season in which neither could even get off the bench.

If this works, great. If it doesn't, folks will probably lose jobs and we'll be back in tear down mode, hopefully with management that chooses Leonard, Butler and Thompson over Biyombo next time.

The bigger issue here is once again we see a disconnect in a front office that bottomed out to avoid the exact situation they just put themselves in again. There is no long-term plan. Only reactionary movements to short term trends. Lance is bad? Get rid of him. Golden State won with offense? Let's get a bunch of offense. Finished below expectations last year? Let's go all in. Al Jefferson won all-NBA one time? Don't trade him!

I'm jealous of Philadelphia. It may not work, but at least they have a plan and the patience to see that plan through. Can't say the same here.
