Corey Brown: Faster than last year?

We keep this up and it will be more like 1a, 1b, 1c.

Possible, but, kb does something well that the other 2 don't, and that's get separation off press coverage.  Philly uses his speed "press can hurt this at his size" and Funchess is shifty from the reports I've read, KB is a big intimidating guy and doesn't get pushed very easily.

Downtown (my new nickname for Corey (Philly) Brown) played extremely well for his size on the line of scrimmage last year. He's not just a deep threat or receiver who relies on his speed, like many think. He wasn't very strong last year (hopefully the weight gain has improved that) but he used his hands well on the line. KB is the clear-cut X receiver but last year when he rested, Downtown played pretty well at that X spot in the limited snaps he had there. Victor Cruz was a "#1" and very rarely played at X---mainly at Z and in the slot---so it's not like a "#1" has to have that skill set that KB has. It's clearly very wishful thinking though that we could have "1a, 1b and 1c" since Downtown has a whole lot of work to do to keep improving and Funchess hasn't played a single snap in the NFL yet, so we shouldn't get our hopes up. And in response to your other post about the #1 and 2a and 2b, I agree that it will be like that to some degree. I just think in 2 wideout sets Funch is more likely to see the snaps than Downtown, so it'll be more like #1, #2 and #3 in terms of snaps. Funch and Downtown will both play Z and in the slot and move around a lot so hopefully Shula can utilize their versatility. I absolutely see Downotwn having just as big of an impact as Funchess, if not bigger, though.

Yeah, that had nothing to do with Avant calling out Shula's play calling, did it?

I think it would have just pushed Avant down the depth chart, if would have kept his mouth shut.  Publicly speaking out against the play call, probably got him cut.  I think Brown would have taken his place either way though.
