Seahawks offer Wilson a deal in the range of Cam Newton's

I think the point was he would have a difficult time beating those QBs out on those teams.  To say he would walk into the camp of any of the teams he listed and be the #1 QB is a stretch.

There was a reason he fell to the 2nd round.  He went into Seattle and made plays and won that job.  I thought it was a great story and of course they won the SB with him that year.  I wouldn't call him a Top 10 QB.  He's a Super Bowl winning QB but there have been many SB winning QBs that weren't top 10.

Usually you have some post I agree with and was pretty shocked you called his post dumb when I thought it was pretty spot on.

A couple of things...

Let me get this straight here. I'm not a Russell Wilson fan. Not by any means. I think he's very overrated by most people and isn't worthy of the contract that he'll inevitably get. But I also believe that many Panthers fans discussing him here underrate him just as much as other people overrate him. He's not an elite QB. But he's also not a game-manager or "just average" like a lot of people have said here. He's an above average QB who can make plays when called upon and limit mistakes, and is without a doubt a franchise QB that many teams wish they had--and worthy of being paid over $20M/year like franchise QBs are in the current market. He won't ever carry a team by himself like a Peyton Manning did, or an Aaron Rodgers (or like Cam has most of his career), but he's the next best thing. There are not 10 QBs in the league currently that I would take over him for the future. Yes Roethlisberger, Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers are probably all currently better than him (though I honestly from what I've watched would rather have Wilson than Brady, Brees or Rivers if I was in a win-now mode), but they won't be for long.

Also (now you may say I'm nitpicking here or it doesn't matter but to me it does matter), Wilson was a 3rd round pick not a 2nd round pick, and he did not win the Super Bowl that year, but the year after. These are basic facts. Because I'm not going to get into breakdowns or specific games/plays right now, I'll list some stats. For career: 63.4% completion percentage, 9950 yards in 3 seasons, 72TD to 26 INT, 98.6 rating as well as 1877 rushing yards and 11TD. He's not just "a Super Bowl winning QB" like a Trent Dilfer or Doug Williams. He contributed to their winning the Super Bowl. Yes, the defense and Lynch are both arguably more important than him, but they don't win that Super Bowl with a QB like Flacco. I don't like when people use the argument that he won the Super Bowl to say he's worth a massive contract or to say he's better than Cam because it obviously wasn't all just him. But I also don't like when people say that they would've won that Super Bowl with any QB in the league, because it's not true. There's a lot of factors that go into it obviously, and people cite Lynch and the defense as reasons why he's overrated. But those same people ignore that he hasn't had a great offensive line by any means (way better than ours for sure, but not great) and his receivers haven't been much better than ours. He's a great young QB and is right up there with Cam and Luck for the future upper echelon of QBs. People either give him way too much credit or not enough, instead of just telling it like it is.

When comparing athletes, yes nothing is set in stone. But if somebody tried claiming that Chad Henne is better than Tom Brady he would be complete fuging moron to everyone else. Your other post was borderlining that argument.

Forget the QB rankings you had, since that can be your opinion---though I'm about 99.99% sure you haven't even seen every QB in the league play more than a game or two if that, so you have no facts to base your opinion on when ranking them. You saying that Russell Wilson wouldn't be able to win a starting job over Winston and Mariota is retarded, that is as much fact as it is to say Brady is better than Henne. You have never seen them play in the NFL so saying that is premature and silly.

And you yourself said it would be a possible competition between Wilson and Tannehill, while also saying you wouldn't even pay Wilson $10M/year. Tannehill is making $19M/year. I'm not going to continue to spell it out for you...

Your post was full of inconsistencies and random nonsense based on nothing at all except your perception of players who you likely haven't seen play enough to have an opinion on them, and probably don't even understand the game of football enough (x's and o's) to tell how good they actually are. And regarding the way I formed my OPINIONS in my response to you... That is I form all of my opinions when discussing or debating anything with people. Not just online. There was no "personal attack" or "name-calling." I disagreed with your opinion. Sure, I threw in some words to emphasize my own opinion and to make it clear that I strongly disagreed with your opinion, but that's all it was. If you're going to fuss about that then you shouldn't bother discussing or debating anything again because that's what debates are. Attacking of each other's opinions in order to get your point across. And the point of this particular message board is to discuss and debate football. Nothing personal about it. Sorry if my words regarding football over a message board offended you.

No. This is a miserable attempt to save face.   You exaggerate other points and then attack your exaggerated misconception.  You are like a puppy chasing its own tail.  Only dumber.

Thomas must be the only guy that isn't drunk on this topic at the moment... Wilson worth $10m? Luck getting $130m? C'mon guys some of you are on the strong stuff tonight.

Seattle was good because their players were good on first contracts.  Now they are facing cap issues, and the GM is going to have to cut somewhere.  Wilson has limitations--size, arm strength. Make him the highest paid QB in NFL history?   Brees was fair in SD, much better in New Orleans with the tools they put around him.  Had RGIII gone to Seattle and Wilson gone to Washington, I doubt anyone is talking about Wilson making more than $10m.  Does anyone watch Wilson?  He runs and scrambles well, but he hands off and throws dink and dunk passes.  His defense is the reason he can do that.  How often does he carry a team on his back?  He is not even the focus of the backfield in Seattle, Lynch is.  They contain Wilson and he is basically ineffective from the pocket.  You want to pay him $22m?  He is not worth near that.  WHen you watch Seattle, Russell W runs for a first down by sprinting toward the sideline.   He throws a swing pass and an underneath route.  He scrambles and throws passes up to WRs after they break off their routes.  He can't beat you without the defense keying on other people.  He gets field position, he gets second chances when the D gets him the ball.  He makes a play and takes the bows.  Watch the Green Bay game--they drew the blueprint on how to contain him.  Other teams will follow suit, and Seattle will realize how limited he really is.
