Seahawks offer Wilson a deal in the range of Cam Newton's

RW is a very nice game manager, and you can win with him. He is a flat ass goofy if he thinks he is worth more than Cam and I don't think anybody is dumb enough to pay him 25 million a year. He might as well sign that baseball contract.

Paying Russell Wilson would be akin to living in NC and buying a pulled pork sandwich from Burger King instead of a local BBQ joint. I'm not really sure what that means but Russell can suck it and Burger King pulled pork can burn in hell.

Of course, since this was a Russell Wilson metaphor, we are talking Kid's meal here.

I am dead serious when I say this. To me, from the start, Russell Wilson always reminded me of a slightly better version of Aaron Brooks.

You throw Wilson in New Orleans, with that team they currently have....it's like watching the 2005 Saints all over again. Or at least the 2004 Saints.

Another wrinkle from PFT (link)

Florio speculates this is all about avoiding fully guaranteed contracts, but since Wilson apparently isn't asking for that, I'm not sure it makes sense.

So why would Paul Allen balk at setting aside the money for his QB?

Precedent.

Yes, Ace Boogie hit the nail on the head--although I think he is more generous to Wilson that he deserves.  I want Wilson to get the $22m+ deal---because a mistake at a QB contract costs the team more than any other position.

Personally, I would keep him on his current contract --if you are on a bad deal and want off, you give a bit.  What Ace says is right-the contract is not to pay you for over-performing your contract--you signed it, Wilson.    So, I would get another budget year out of him then franchise him for a season.  I would draft a qb in 2016--the draft should be a good one at QB.

Now Wilson has a player being groomed to replace him and he knows that he will not be as successful anywhere other than Seattle.  In 2 years, I will learn more about what I have in Wilson because the Seahawks will lose Lynch and they will have to play the cap game.  If he is good in 2016., lock him into the deal he wants.

On average, you would still come out on top.  1 million + 19m = $10m per season over the next 2 years.  Instead, he wants fully guaranteed $22m+ during those 2 seasons--no way in hell I do that.  As the GM and not giving him what he wants, I save $14m and get more time to consider options and see just how good pretty boy really is.

People really ought to stop quoting Florio. He is literally either the biggest idiot or hack online today.

This time last year the dumbas* literally wrote that the Bears got a "steal" and their franchise QB for the foreseeable future when they signed Cutler to that ridiculous contract. This is after the moron saw McCown operate the Bears offense at a much higher level, and Cutler once again failed to bring his team to the playoffs.

Florio is the definition of an as*wipe.

id trade wilson for multiple first round picks, keep the SB team intact, and get a QB that doesnt SUCK and throw 4 INTs in the NFCCG and throw a pick to lose the game in the superbowl

a decent QB that doesnt turn the bal over and they would be superbowl champs x2, crushing the pack
