Cut Deadline: Biggest Surprise

My guesses:

Kenny Moore - I still remember back in 2007 when I got excited about Chris Horn. He also wore the infamous 81 and Jake was talking about how he reminded him of good ol' Ricky Proehl. Was pretty surprised and upset when they cut him and I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same here. Just because you make the most catches does not equal getting a job. I believe Dominique Thompson made a lot of catches last preseason and he didn't stay on the roster.

Jeremy Leman - Foxy has said he creeps him out.

Dante Rosario - Not cut but traded to some team for some depth.

I still think Leman will go because I never saw him stand out on special teams. I think you want to keep someone with his energy, but he has to make plays on ST. I think it was Jamison last year that never seemed to appear on D, but was always around the ball on kicks/punts.

Matt Moore.

The Panthers brought McCown in to be the heir to Jake and Moore is still the #3 & he is on the last year of his contract. The Panthers don't have the luxury to have #3 QB's when they have other more pressing needs on defense.

I personally don't think either McCown or Moore are the answer but I guess the Panthers think McCown might be.

Whether we agree with this or not, the Panthers have McCown as their #2 man, not Moore. If they thought Moore was 'it', he would be #2. For some reason, they have love for McCown.

Leman sucks, he had one good game and people act like his Dan Morgan.

I think you are mistaken. I don't think he is the greatest LB in the league nor anywhere near being a starter for us but he did a damn fine job on special teams each game and was involved in almost every play he was in the game. I didn't see a missed tackle or missed assignment so saying he sucks is a little overkill. We need more people with fire in their belly. I am much happier to see an underachiever excel than see a "all pro" sleep through a play

You know, I don't hate that pick. Moore has proven to be a good backup, and I think we could conceivably go into the season with 2 QBs on the roster. It would save us a lot of cash, and free up a roster spot (for... oh, I don't know... a return specialist like Mark Jones?). We can stash Cantwell on the PS and pick him up if needed. Plus we can always find someone as good as McCown during the season in Free Agency. Probably McCown himself we be available.

And If Delhomme goes down, our season is shot anyway. So let's cut McCown, and sign a player who can make an impact in week one, *cough* Mark Jones! *cough*

Amen. Carolina carried only 2 qbs a couple years ago. Cutting McCown would be fine in my book.

I agree about keeping 2 QB's you've put yourself in that position by keeping 2 kickers. If Jake goes down we are done anyway and we can always pick up one of the QB's we cut anyhow, its not like teams are lining up to sign anyone of them. As far as Leman is concerned, I guess making play after play is not good enough. He probably makes the PS but you can tell he LOVES to play the game.(Too bad that cant be said for half our other players)
