Favorite variety of hash brown potato

The potato, Russets or White rounds to be specific, kicks ass.  Nothing is quite as simple or delish as a nice hash brown to accompany your favorite breakfast.  It is also one of the most disrespected side dishes in the world.  Written off as a simple side item next to bacon, eggs, grits, and waffles/pancakes.  Much like an NFL offense, the success of your breakfast starts up front with the fried potato.  So what is your favorite variety of this tater delicacy?  Shredded, diced, home style, julienned, compressed into a shape like at McDonalds or Bojangles?  Tater Tots are also a variety of hash brown.  My favorite would have to be shredded, slightly browned to a crisp, with some Heinz ketchup. Or when I do a breakfast tailgate at Panther games I buy the diced and fry them up with some sausage and onions.  

 

PS - Redskin potatoes are pure crap and don't belong in any hash brown recipe.

I'm a fan of seasoned with various vegetables (peppers, onions, jalapeños, etc.).  Sort of a hash brown omelette.

Smothered, covered, and country I think is the Waffle House order?  Gravy on hashbrowns is artery clogging goodness.
