Game vs Giants in NY on Dec. 20th

I think that its normal for a lot of people to not want to invest a lot of time and money traveling to see a team you love get the snot knocked out of them while sitting in a sea of hostile fans. I don't think of it as a knock on your love for the team, but avoiding adding insult to injury.

I'm pretty lucky in that my friends and I know a lot of fan groups from other teams and we go as much to hang with them as to watch the game - my favorite away game trip recently was Buffalo a couple of years ago even though we sucked and lost in spectacular fashion. If I spent a thousand dollars to just take my wife to the game it would have hurt a lot more....

I can't think of anything else "I'll wait and see how the season goes" means.

Well if we're winless at that point I wouldn't think it'd be worth it to go to an away game and spend all that money on travel and tickets. Since I'm so close to NY we could be winless then and I'd still go, but I certainly wouldn't be traveling to Seattle if that were late in the year and we sucked. Of course I watch every single second of every game, but it makes sense to "see how the season goes" when deciding whether to spend a lot of money on going to an away game.

Maybe it means I'm a broke college kid,  but yeah keep jumping to conclusions.

Hahahaha.....ok. Nice try.

I just asked you a question, pal. Maybe you should say that rather than what you did. And don't get all fussy sweetheart....when you get fussy you look guilty. But that's how I would expect a sarcastic college kid to act if he was trying to deflect anyway.

and that's fine....but it means waiting to see what the team's record is before committing. Which was my point

by the way....my flights to Seattle, New Orleans, and NY are all booked. I don't need to "wait and see how the season goes".

You said "I'll wait and see how the season goes" means "you only cheer on the Panthers when they're winning" in response to that other guy saying it. I was just trying to defend him and say it's not that simple. I'm committing to the NY game right now regardless of record because I don't have to fly there and find somewhere to stay. But I don't have the money to be able to go to every away game like you do, and clearly the guy you were responding to doesn't either. Just saying that him not committing now is reasonable and doesn't make him a "bad fan" like you implied when you said to him "so you only cheer on the Panthers when they're winning."

So if let me get it straight....

If the Panthers are winning then he'll find the money to be able to go

If the Panthers aren't winning then he won't waste his money

Hmmm......ok

By the way....this isn't serious or anything. I'm just messing around. But.....

Bring that up with him. I wouldn't be able to afford to go to a game like Seattle regardless, and if I could reasonably afford to go to every single game on the schedule when I don't have anything conflicting I would--regardless of whether we sucked or not.

I sure wouldn't, I didn't watch the green bay last year either because it was so likely to be a bloodbath.
