True Detective Season Two

Season 1 is one of my favorite pieces of filmmaking ever.

Season 2 was an above average cop drama that at best provides some intense moments and at its worst was a discombobled mess with laugh-out-loud bad dialogue.

no arguments there, blue balls of the heart? seriously what the fug was pizz thinking

Really liked this season and loved the ending. I think what it boils down to is what was mentioned earlier in this thread. Last year's topic was more interesting but overall I think I liked this season better even if it had it's flaws, but not sure it's fair to compare the two. Didn't think about Frank having the diamonds in his pocket until but it makes more sense now that I read that.

The one thing I didn't understand is why Ray didn't just steal a car when he realized there was a tracker under his. Hell, he was already wanted for 2 murders, so why not at least steal a car and try to get away?

Anyway, I liked it....some hated it but I am looking forward to season 3.

We caught the finale last night... I actually liked the episode...

I kind of still wish that they had delved into the camera guy's past a little more, and more of how the fug he trained his mentality of the "I am the blade. I am the bullet."  line he used... I thought the whole "I found it at Caspere's house" about the crow mask was a total cop out and lame as hell.

I guess the whole season, the mystery and background on that dude, whoever was wearing that mask, was way more interesting and worth screen time than hours of whispered dialogue and cheesy one-liners.

Vince Vaughn basically stole the show, and TBQH if that is the sentiment folks take away from your 8 episode series then you might be doing something wrong.

6/10 Average show wouldn't watch again.

A little late to the party here, but I really enjoyed the season.  I was fine with the way things ended mostly.  We all knew that Ray's son would be his downfall.  Him driving down the highway thinking about if he wanted to go see him once more reminded me of Heat when DeNiro is on his way out of town only to go for the revenge kill at the last momnet.

The one thing that really bothered me was how Frank died.  Not that he died, he was my favorite character but we all knew he was probably doomed.  I did not mind that he died, nor did I mind the group that killed him, but dying because the guy wanted his suit was stupid in my opinion.

from what I understand,  Ani didn't go to the party looking for her, she went investigating the Caspere murder and just so happened to come into her missing person in a stupor.

I know this is dragging up an old post, but I have always heard in writing that coincidences can get your character into trouble, and it is good writing, but coincidences getting your character out of trouble is lazy writing.
