Clueless in Atlanta

While we're discussing the falcons.. does anyone agree that Dan Quinn will bust as a HC? Anyone could look good with that talent.

Pete Carroll and Gus Bradley built the defense that Quinn inherited when Bradley left after the 2012 season to be Jacksonville's head coach. Imo, Falcant fans are putting a lot of hope in a guy that was more of a caretaker than a coach.

Best part is they'll think he's a draft wizard because he had input along with Thomas Dimitroff, Scott Pioli, Arthur Blank, and the speaker volume control guy about who to pick. Sure, most of their picks this year will make the final 53 and contribute, but they'll ignore the painful reality that they are so talent starved across the depth chart that almost any slappy from Slapdick U. would be an upgrade over what they had.

i think falcons fans are expecting quinn to be some kind of schematic wizard because the seattle defense was so nasty and they might end up disappointed.

there are paper bricks that have been written about the scheme he ran with the seahawks and it was basically a three deep zone with chancellor coming down into the box when the matchup favored it and the LEO concept that everybody and their grandma is aware of now.  other than that it's quite vanilla.

what made that scheme work was the fact that seattle's secondary is/was alone at the top when it comes to concentrated talent in one or two position groups.  atlanta has talent in their secondary but it's not on the same level.  then there's that front 7.

Their tactic will be to try to swing the conversation to a their player vs. our player stat comparison. Or just an outright taunt of this Panther isn't as good as so-and-so at the same point in their career.

That's the tactic of someone who can't point to the scoreboard and say they have the better team. Last I checked Peyton has better stats than Tom, but Tom has more hardware. And if that's the comparison they use, well, that's not Cam's game, so why would we want him to be like those guys? Cam's game is more like Elway's and Favre's. They both have the hardware, but it wasn't until they had the right pieces around them that it happened.

The few smart Falcants fans know we're a long term threat so they're going to resort to stat-calling to make themselves feel better. They're going to need serious ego massaging when they're the last team in the NFCS without a Lombardi trophy case.
