Good read on Bersin

overrated if you cant catch. Remember ricky when we had moose and smitty? He wasn't fast but somehow would get open at the right time and make a play, usually a clutch 3rd down play to move the chains. That kind of player is usually overlooked, but once you don't have it on your roster anymore it becomes apparent you needed that more than you think. Ricky was that, and bersin can be that too. So what is the problem?

 

Yes he sucks as a kickoff/punt returner.

I really liked that article.

I think both Jeremy and I have liked Bersin since he came in, but, Jeremy saw him more in training camp and knew he wasn't ready when he first came in.

I'm glad he's still with the team and progressing to be, what sounds like, a solid piece in the WR puzzle for the Panthers.

Guess we'll see how training camp goes.

Honestly, I see Ginn not getting a jersey on gameday. Brown has the speed and to be honest, Ginn wasn't a great receiver, just stretched the field for us but had bad hands.

Todman may actually be a better return man and Ginn would suit up if we had a receiver injured.

Remember Brown getting a lot of heat after he was messing up punt returns last September, Bersin the WR is a perfectly serviceable player (but please not as a first read or on a bubble screen) but should be nowhere near a punt, at any time

Bersin" honestly is our best receiver when it comes too hands!! So on third downs we need him in the game with Fun2Watch & Olsen' they seem to be the best 3.. We already sold on Olsen and Bersin but Great reports on Fun2Watch* This can be the 2TE-sets put Fun2Watch & Olsen inside(TE), Bersin (slot) Corey (Wide), KB (Wide)for double teams.. Ginn has value in the return game that we desperately needed. That's why we signed him.

Unless someone else lights it up returning the ball in preseason, Ginn is all but guaranteed a jersey on gamedays

They didn't re-sign Ginn to not dress him. He's still a dangerous returner and had speed that must be respected. No way he's inactive.

it more or less will be true.  I don't feel like digging through the inactive lists from last year, where there was a lot of injury and a cut - the 4th receiver rarely contributes a ton, especially in this offense.  Hixon was targeted 7 times in 2013 and played about 10% of snaps.  Armanti was a bit less than that for both, across 2012.  I don't remember whether Ajirotutu or Armanti was the 4 in '11, but it didn't really matter. 

If you assume that Avant and Brown are the third receiver, and they rarely existed productively at the same time, Bersin played 13% of the time, was targeted 20 times.  If you say, Avant and Brown are two different guys and therefore the 3rd and 4th receivers, you can make a one time suggestion that a 5th WR contributed a minimal amount based on both injury and the midseason cut of a situational vet. 

So I guess I'm saying, ehh, whoever that 5 is, it's not a major contributor.  It's not worth the worry.

Side Note: This is the second or third article I've seen written by Pat James. Don't know much about him but I like what I've read so far.
