John Fox signs an old Panther

Mr. Scot

Ehh, he got Delhomme prior to training camp the second year he was here. Give him two years and I think the Bears will be contenders. Getting Manning in Denver was a miracle, he'll not find that in Chicago this year.

Fox's smash-mouth style doesn't put a premium on the QB position. He needs a good one, but not a great one. It will require a great defense, though, and he can build those.

He also has a bit of luck and that seems to work for him.

John Fox has the weirdest career path I've ever seen.

He's on his third head coaching job, but he's never actually been fired from any of his prior jobs. Teams just keep deciding to 'part ways' with him.  It's like watching a guy who keeps getting married but gets annulments rather than divorces.

The Bears team philosophy certainly suits his MO, so maybe it'll work.

I guess we'll see.

Cutler, Clausen, and whomever else they have are not much worse than his first or second year in Carolina. Rodney Peete, Chris Weinke and some backup they signed that use to play in Europe.

I've forgotten that guy. I think his name was Holmes or something.

Fwiw, I think Cutler could be good enough to win some games, in a conservative run oriented offense that Fox is probably going to set up.  Playoffs might be out of reach if the other teams in the division stay healthy, but if Green Bay/Detroit struggle, then they might have a shot.
