2015 Hornets Draft Watch

JJman Returns

It seems like this board never wants us to draft shooters, yet complains about us not having shooters. Devin Booker has all the tools to be a starting SG with above average height. It is time to stop putting this aside. Draft the shooter and move on. Unless we plan on pursuing Danny Green or Belinelli in free agency

The second worst three point shooter in the league last season was Gary Harris. Nik Stauskas was a rookie disappointment. Adam Morrison...well...

It's not as simple as "can this guy shoot a basketball?" Is he good enough to get his shot off against NBA defenses? Can he create his own shot? Can he get buckets and be useful when his shot isn't falling?

That's my concern with Booker or Hunter. They sound like this year's Stauskas and Harris. If they can shoot but aren't very good at anything else, what good are they to the team?

But yet we worship Hairston....

Lol Hairston had no problem creating his own shot or getting open ones.   They just didn't fall...   And again, for those of you who never experienced playing consistent minutes as a starter versus playing sporadically, that can have a huge impact on confidence AND ability to get into a rhythm and score.

Same guys that swore Alexis Anjica would be the next Kevin Garnett are ready to replace PJ after one year of shitty playing time.

That being said, we still need perimeter shooters, and lots of them.

I think Belinelli would be a perfect addition for us in the FA.  Pair that addition with a solid guard in the draft and a 3rd PG, and we're good to go.  And by go I mean go like 39-42 or something :)

"PJ is a great shooter, he just doesn't make his shots..."

This is a fair point, but he had a similar period at UNC.  He misses good though (I know I know)  They are usually on target just a little short or long.

Once he gets a better build and gets used to NBA those shots will start falling.

He also shot well but didn't have great shot selection. That will help a bunch too.

Just give him a little time.

I like Myles Turner, love his skill, rim protection, and rebounding.

Needs to add strength, work on back to basket game, and moving his feet better.

The guy has huge upside

I am almost always wrong about players I like so hopefully we stay away from him lol

I saw enough from Hairston last season to know he will develop into a solid defender. When he got good minutes, he was active tipping passes, playing pressure D, and even getting some blocks.

Like most players though, his defensive efforts was higher when his shot was falling on the other end, so consistency needs to be there.

Hairston has a strong frame too. He can be a two way player in this league.

That's why I think he is a better prospect than Booker.
