2015 Hornets Draft Watch

JJman Returns

Recommended Posts

We are officially one week away from the NBA Draft. As most teams do, we've held numerous workouts with early and late first round talent and of course, with guys who we could target in the second round. As of right now, it seems the three favorite first round targets are

Devin Booker, SG from Kentucky. Willie Cauley Stein, C from Kentucky. and RJ Hunter, SG from Georgia State. I doubt Stein falls back to us at number 9, and I doubt we'd take Hunter at the number 9 pick. I do believe Devin Booker will be the pick and he'd be a good one. It seems also that Stanley Johnson and Kelly Oubre are in the discussion as well.

So who do you want?

Not a fan of Booker. Trade up and get one of the top prospects, or stay put and draft Stanley Johnson, a guy that can be a two way player.

I'd rather have Oubre than Booker if we trade down.

Johnson is actually a decent possibility.  Hell, if we're expecting Clifford to be Clifford, then might as well get a guy to fit in the roation behind MKG ahead of Hairston/Taylor in the SF/SG mold.  Then, get a true SG/PG type in the FA or via trade.

It seems like this board never wants us to draft shooters, yet complains about us not having shooters. Devin Booker has all the tools to be a starting SG with above average height. It is time to stop putting this aside. Draft the shooter and move on. Unless we plan on pursuing Danny Green or Belinelli in free agency
